ok, I think I've captured all the recipes from this thread but if I've missed a recipe please pm me

Just wanted to say that whilst reading through its reminded me what a great bunch of people we have here, so much support and information. The GC has to be one of the friendliest and most supportive threads online :T

I haven't been spending wildly so hopefully I'm not too much off my budget. I inherited auntie's freezer, so I now have a small under counter freezer which is full of veg and a small chest freezer which is full of everything else! I'm on my way to having a useful winter store cupboard, just need to check some dates to make sure that I'm using things up in order.

Anyway, good luck to everyone on the home straight for August and I'll see you on the shiny new thread soon

Evening guys, spent £2.98 today and I'm fairly certain that will be my last grocery spend of the month so I'm declaring at £94.71 for August. Grrgrrgrrgrr stupid washing stuff pushing me over, oh well! Without it I'd be just under so I don't feel too bad!

I really think doing this is helping me save though, even if it's just by making me more aware of what I spend and what it's on. Can I please be put down for £90 again for September?

That's me declaring for Aug. Its very strange still not buying much but I am beginning to see small spaces in the freezer.Well they would be bigger but DH keeps giving me veg every day so I'm having to freeze it.I've put 3 tubs of grated courgette, 2 x ratatouille, 2 x spinach and potato curry,4 x courgette fritters and a spicy marrow curry.I have a menu plan till the end of September and all I will need is fruit and dairy at this rate.I'm 65% through the year and I've only used 52% of my budget.MIL is taking us out for dinner tomorrow which will be nice as we hardly ever go out.The last time we spent over an hour tearing the house apart looking for matching shoes! Happy bank holiday to you all.

does anyone else have probs with MrM with receipts. I didnt check mine this week and saw one packet of savoury rice was 43p the other 72p , both same size,flavour and stores own. Normally I always check as the staff often dont remove the price signs when an item has gone up in price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The till brings it up at actual price so dont know how it has brought the same item up at 2 different prices!!
Anyway when I posted earlier I for got to put up Septembers budget which starts Sunday, it is £300.00

Can't say for certain about that item, but I know what could happen with bakery items to cause this.....

When something we pack into (price-marked) packaging - such as the Best Cookies - is on special offer, we have to use a different supply of packaging which has a different barcode and no pre-printed price on it. If we forget and use the 'normal' stocks - heaven help us - then the item goes through the till at the standard price rather than the offer price.

So it's possible the packs of rice have had a slightly different barcode due to a promotion at some point - and you've picked up one older stock and one newer stock

Can I join please? I have been reading this thread with interest and have got some great tips about how to reduce my grocery bills so I think it's time to put them all into action! There are 2 of us + 2 under 5s (one still in nappies). I am, rather optimistically perhaps, hoping that £300 will cover our groceries for the month. littlemissmoneypenny £300.
