May I come back please? We failed for two months in a row and so gave up in March but need to get back in order for April.
Our month is from the 26th so would you put me down for £300 during April?
Thank you very much
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
I bought bread and milk today. Youngest DS is having a friend over for for tea today. He wanted fishfingers, macaroni and salad for tea. I have no fishfingers so will give them scampi instead. I am making some brownies this afternoon for their dessert. This evening I will bake a batch of hobnobs and fairy cakes.
I am debating whether I should have upped my budget for this month because of the school holidays but I will keep it as £450. My eldest DS is skiing with the school for a week so I should manage. He is the one that can clear out the cupboards if I am not on my guard.
DS 12 is making HM pizzas tomorrow for dinner. We are having a movie night. I will need to go to the butchers and greengrocers tomorrow. Then it should only be bread and milk I need for the week.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500
June £511.99/£480 July £311.56/£4800 -
Not spent too much this month - total is about £180 out of £250, as I have had a few extra expenses this month and forced myself to use my food stores instead of buying!
This has been the most expensive month for the car in it's life!!
Just as well I manage to keep a tight rein on the food budget as firstly we needed an MOT on the 3rd (£76.10 easy pass just asked them to change the oil). Discovered that all tyres were barely legal (£305) and that the service was due if we want to keep up the extended warranty thing.
Sooooo car is in for a service today and I am hoping it costs no more than £220 so I can pay cash for it and not have to touch the savings. Sadly the garage, which is a small family run place and very good, found it would be too expensive to provide a credit card facility or I could spread the cost with next month. So I have to pay by cheque.
So keeping fingers crossed that it is quite cheap today and I can go shopping this weekend as some stores are running low and freezer is looking a bit empty, and I am getting a bit twitchy lol.
I suspect I will be under budget this month, by a long way, and we really only need bread and bananas before April comes!!
Hope everyone else is coping with the price increases, and good luck on your challenges!

Pants. I've blown the budget, am declaring £210+ for March (budget was £180).
April budget is £180 AND I WILL STICK TO IT (I'm pulling my 'resolve' face as I type this)*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
hi all i am new to this thread so trying to work out what we aim to do. we are on limited funds so we dont have much to spend normally so on average i try to only spend £320 a month. thats all food, toiletries and cleaning stuff for 2 adults, 1 teenager and dog. we are vegetarian which seems to limit how much i am able to save because dont see that many good offers so any tips would be great. especially for healthy options as i am on a healthy eating plan
so for this month I will aim to try and do everything for £350 - had to put it up this month as weve got easter hols so need more snacks for son and ive got to get easter presents and cards for people
going to get the shopping tonight as we are out of everything - have a list which always helps and i change things around if i see any good bargains. do we post how weve done at the end of the month or end of each week?0 -
Still getting there. Bought bread & milk that were needed for the weekend (and wine also NEEDED
) My month ends on Tuesday, and I'm not declaring until then as we will certainly need milk again before then, and maybe some veg. (nevermind chickens in the garden, we could do with our own dairy cow :rotfl: :rotfl: )
I'm all meal planned for April, will manage on freezer and storecupboard until Thurs, up to London Fri then Sat, Disney here we com woo hoo. MSE Webmaster, what an excellent weekend to take down the forums. You do realize that any other weekend I would be sulking for Wales:rotfl: .Dor0
