Default Homemade hobnobs?

Insert From Martin... Twink's World Famous (well MSE Famous Hobnob recipe)

MoneySaver Twink's Hobnob recipe has been tried, tested and heartily recommended by many MoneySavers its meant to be CHEAP and YUM (i've not tried it yet).

It was originally posted in the fourth post below, but to make it easier I've copied it here... and I do apologise for not including it in the favourite biscuit poll

If you want to thank Twink for the recipe go to post number 4 and click thanks

Hobnob Recipe

Ingredients

8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda

Instructions

Mix the flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan. Stir in bic soda and add to dry mix.

Then mix well and make into smallish balls which you then put on a greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork. Put in the oven at 180 degrees C for 15 mins... and cool on the tray. The aim is to get them golden in the oven not brown.

Back to the original post....

Has anyone got a recipe for biscuits similar to hobnobs please?

I wish - I've been trying for ages with various recipes but they're really hard to make.

There were a few recipes on here a while back if anyone can find them but they always seem to rise too much/burn quickly or are too soft.

I'll try them out.

Looby-loo, does it look like the same recipe?

Anzac biscuits are very like hobnobs. Damn! Now I'm going to have to go and make some!

I don't shop at Sainsbury's, Asda, Aldi, Lidl, Netto, Ocado (who?!) or Morrisons. The cost of the ferry to get there would make it too expensive!

I have been making these for years and used to make them for the farmers market

Oat Crunchies

6oz Lard
6oz Margarine
9oz Sugar
3teasp Golden Syrup
9teasp Boiling Water
few drops vanilla essence
12oz Self Raising Flour
6 oz Porridge Oats

Mix all ingredients together. If you think mixture is too sticky add a bit of extra flour . Place large walnut size dollops on a baking sheet allow for spreading. It makes about 36. Bake 10-15mins 180*c until golden brown. While hot place on wire rack will crisp up when cold.

For a change try adding a handful ( or two ) of chocolate chips to the mixture
