I saved up my receipts and updated today.
I'm doing alot of storecupboard meals at the moment for several reasons, a rather large vet bill to pay and the dog's been put on a "special" = expensive dog food  which will be coming out of the grocery money as my other dogs food does as that comes from Tesco. I also need to use up the odds and sods in the bottom of the freezer so I can defrost it.
I know this will mean a large bulk buy at the beginning of next month which I could do without but it can't be helped :rolleyes:0 -
 Hi all
Have not been posting for a while - had an accident - but am still doing GC. Am determined to try & get to the bottom of my freezers....especially the iced-up one in the cellr that I am sure is running away with the leccy. Mrs M could you please put me down for £220 again this month....will update sig as soon as I add up receipts. Ta very much!!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Just added in todays spends/useages, and it still looks hopeful that I'll come in under budget for my first GC :T It's quite a relief, as although I kept track of my totals last month I wasn't trying to keep within a set budget like I am this month !!
I'm even hopeful I can include cleaning items/toiletries next month without needing to increase it (I'm monitoring the costs of those this month, but not including them in my total on here)Cheryl0 -
 Evenin' My fellow GC buddies.
How's it going?
I'm ever so sorry to hear you've had an accident sashanut. I hope you're well on the mend by now.
The same goes for you Mrs M. Get well soon chick!
Well done Kymbogs for being done and dusted! I'm pretty much at the halfway mark and trying to keep a lid on it whilst keeping everybody happy as usual!
I've just done an actual Mr T shop at Mr T's instead of online :eek:cos of all this nefarious "cheapest option not available online" business.
I'm not impressed. Hubby doesn't get home until about 9pm most nights with the car so by the time we'd had a chat it was almost ten before I was tramping round the supermarket with my "grumpy old woman" face (and shoes!) on.
I'm usually all friendly and smiley I promise but every time I'm a bit grumpy and consequently a little fierce I get so much better service! :rotfl: It's not fair is it?!
I'm hoping to get some fruit and veg bargains at the market tomorrow and still wistfully longing for a regular Abel & Cole delivery.
All their fresh produce was so lovely in the "free" (you had to spend £25 to get it I think) veg box they sent us - and the eggs were fabulous.
I'm still jiggling my sums around trying to make it work.
I also posted on the "What should happen to the OS Daily" thread today - although I wasn't able to be any help at all.I just hate to see people so upset about it all.
I only mention it because I had no idea that a debate was raging until one of you mentioned it so I'm mentioning it again in case anybody else wants to put in their tuppence.

Morning
I spent quite a bit yesterday but i did include my new (living) chickens and their food because the main reason I bought themn was for the eggs. They still have the corners on 5 for £1 at tescos so got 15 and then DH (who is getting very good at GC bargain finding) found 2 rasberry bushes at tesco for £1.80 each so these are also included in budget as hoping to get llots of fruit from them next year.
Oh and i made HM french baguettes for first time. They were gorgeous!
Have a good day

I'm so glad I didn't have a mouthful of tea when I read this first Katie....I've been pondering on just where the corners are on a chicken & why they would be removed before you'd bought them....then a very dim  when I realised what you had actually said, followed by a lot of *crawls away from keyboard*
Apologies about some of the post yesterday guys, but one very important bit that I need to repeat is..
TESCO ARE GIVING STORE MANAGERS FREE REIGN OVER ISSUEING & HONOURING RAIN-CHECK VOUCHERS! I was told by a customer service assistant on Tuesday evening, so please be aware that when a special offer is out of stock, we may not be able to claim the voucher in that particular branch, or use a voucher in a branch that didn't issue IYSWIM.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Morning ladies!
Tescos order last night but only a small top up one - found a voucher for free delivery so the order was £32. A few store cupboard things to restock and some fresh fruit and veg - nothing big there but it all adds up!!
Smoked Haddock was on special offer so bought some as intend to attempt a fish pie. (Have cheap pollock fillets from lidls and whoopsied prawns plus cheese sauce from pre-OS days) so adding in some broccoli (my absolute fave veg) it should taste rather nice. (OH makes great mashed potato as he never leaves lumps!)
Hope everyone is doing OK with their challenges.. I am off to change my siggy, finish posting and then go to bed!
Get well soon MrsM!
*Hugs* to all

Morning everyone,
Planning to make tomato soup for lunch which is adapted from a recipe from Good Food as the kids love it with home made crusty bread.
Real Tomato Soup – a really easy recipe adapted from a Good Food Recipe
Serves 8
Prep 5 mins
Cook 25 mins
Low fat
Counts as 1 of 5-a-day
Ingredients
4tbsp olive oil
2 onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
4 x 400g can chopped tomatoes
142g can tomato puree
1 large handful basil leaves
1 level tsp bicarbonate of soda
1200 ml milk
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method- Heat the olive oil in a large pan, then tip in the onion and garlic. Cook over a moderate heat until the onion has softened, about 5 – 10 mins. Stir in the tomato puree, then pour in the chopped tomatoes and basil leaves, and bring up to the boil. Turn the heat down and leave to simmer for about 15 mins until thick and full of flavour. If you like a smooth soup, whiz the mixture at this point to form a smooth sauce (I use my stick blender but you could use a liquidiser etc). Can now be cooled and frozen for up to 1 month.
- To finish the soup, tip the soup mixture into a pan. Spoon the bicarbonate of soda into a small bowl and pour over 1 tbsp or so of the milk. Mix together until there are no lumps, then tip into the tomato mix and pour over the milk. Bring up to a boil (the mixture will froth, but don’t worry – it will go away). Season to taste. Gently simmer for about 5 mins until ready to serve.
Still regularly reading the thread although like many posters not posting as much as I used to bearing in mind the need to keep the thread a manageable length. Hope you feel better soon Mrs M and that everyone has a good day.
On a separate note I picked up a tip from the sneaky ways to save the pennies thread - posted by bambieyes - they suggested mixing grated carrot with grated cheese and mayo for sandwich filling - tried it with my 3 year old yesterday and he loved them - he's not keen on eating veg at the moment so money saving and brilliant way to get him to eat veg without him realising - thought this might be of help to somebody.
Will probably not post again until the month end unless I find something that I feel others would benefit from in the meantime.
Happy moneysaving

Hubby2b spent another £8 odds at tesco last night on pizza and dog food so thats added to my total now.We are actually doing really well this month (apart from having take away once)and are eating well but cheaply.Still have some stuff to use up in the freezer so dont actually need enough to place an online order this week.
This week we are having for tea
bolognese bake with garlic bread,
chicken dippers with rice and sweet & sour sauce,
pizza with BBQ chicken wings and garlic bread,
roast beef with yorkshire pud and lots of veggies,
quiche and beans,
pork sausages in cider sauce with apple & herb stuffing and veg
I also have some pork steaks but not sure yet whether to have them as they are with pots and veg or cut them up for a stir fry with noodles.
So all I need to buy to have those 7 meals is onions, apple stuffing, pasta(none left at all and I like to buy the big 3kg sack from tesco) and a small beef joint.
Also going to visit tesco late on saturday to look for bread as thats when I have got the best reduced deals before. Not the most exciting way to spend a saturday evening.
Mum went to iceland last week for the first time in years.I bought my £29 in stamps before I shopped so got a £1 stamp free at the checkout and spent £34 for about 10 meals and sandwich fillers. The only thing the family didnt like was the ready meal of chicken in creamy garlic sauce I bought,it was tasteless and the chicken was so dry that it all went in the dogs bowl and we had take away instead."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0
