Hi. A really tight month ahead. Put me down for £220 as with previous months but this time I have no back up money and must really not spend anything else.0

TheBees are declaring a few days early at £81 over budget:mad:
I really don't know why we're so much over this month compared to other months where we're usually only a tenner or so over.
So I'm off to Mr T tomorrow armed with a shopping list for the next 10 days and will try to buy enough so that I dont need to keep popping into the local co-op to top up on milk, bread and veg. It seems to be the top up shops when I keep spending more money on things I don't really need plus it's such a waste of time and petrol.
Our month will be 4.5 weeks up to the 30th so that's £80 week. It sounds do-able so fingers crossed for April.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

Got BF to get a pint of milk today from the newsagents, rather than popping into Somerfield and temptation. Otherwise, we're pretty much set until the end of the month. I'm going to declare early as we have ordered and paid for our large shop for next month as we were away for a couple of weeks this month and had run things down.
So I'm declaring £73.39 for this month and have decided that after three months of the Grocery challenge, that I'd like to have an annual budget. Mrs M could you put me down for £2040 for the whole year with a current spend of £440.82. OH yay! Oh YAY!!!!
Declaring £152.84 for March ... that is a whopping £31.61 under budget.
Cupboards do look a little bare though.
However.... up till now I have been putting LOTS of effort and thought into it all and I was getting to get a little weary of it all. This last month I have been noting down all I spend but not conciously trying THAT hard iykwim.
I am taking all this to mean that my shopping habits have changed for the better to such a degree that it all comes as second nature.
Anyway I'll stick with a good thing and go for the same for April..£184.45
Good luck everybody.0 -

Well I have come in way under budget :j but really its because I have been shaving off the grocery budget to put into my moving pot!
So far spent £61.78 and got £10 in my purse to get a few bits tomorrow.
Get the keys to my new flat on Monday, but cant move anything bulky until following Sunday, so will have to wait to refill my freezer!
Cupboards are almost bare, makes it easier for the move, but harder to sort out meals!!!
I will declare march spend tomorrow when we get back from mrT.
And budget for April I am going to go for £150 as more weeks for my money! But hoping once freezer and cupboard restocked will come in under budget again!
Thanks for keeping me focused on my spending habbits!new challenge?£1 a day for Christmas 2024 £367 / £366 ~Got married 24/05/19 ~ Credit CardDFW Nerd #1155 ~LBM 25/2/09 ~ Debt at highest £8,037.35 ~ £00 -

I also picked up a tin of Ghee - not a huge saving compared to the Mr T price (who are £1 less than S'flds were!),..... It's not something I've ever bought before, but have a couple of recipes that "call" for it that I've wanted to try - plus the Basmati Rice mentions it in the cooking [strike]destructions[/strike] instructions,
We ditched the ghee in favour of olive oil about 30 years ago. Much healthier!
I dry fry some cloves, cardamoms and bay leaves in a non-stick pan, then add olive oil and chopped or sliced onion, fry that till it's translucent, add the ginger and garlic and fry for a minute or so, add the rice and fry for another 5 minutes, throw in the salt, slosh in the water, put the lid on the pan and cook it for 15 minutes (turning the heat down and stirring after 5 mins and again at 10 mins).
Admittedly I do use extra virgin olive oil...:oTime flies like an arrow.
