Afternoon all.
MrsM can you please put me down for £350 for December. I am delcaring November at £348.
Have ordered my shop on-line for tomorrow for all the non-perishable items for December and will be off to Costco on Monday for the meat for the month so I *think* I will have £30-£40 a week for the fresh bits.
I also decided this year that we wouldnt go mad on the "naughty" bits as most years we buy the tins of chocs, lots of alcohol, lots of soft drinks, nibbles etc etc etc. This year we have each stated what we would like (i.e. trifle, roasted nuts and angel delight) and that is what we are having. We will buy a few boxes of lager when its on offer and wine when its on 3 for £10 but thats it (and its for the new year as well). Just no point buying so much stuff in as even when we do have people over its never all eaten and we end up throwing half the tinned chocs away come July!!! Its only me and DH who have the treats anyway as DD1 only has a tiny bit of choc vary rare and DD2 is too young for anything like that anyway. I think year before last with all the food and alcohol we must have spent a good £600+ for one month - now that would do me 2 months of shopping lol.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me and hugs to those of you who have recently lost loved ones and those having a tough time of things lately.

zls i love our strap line.....says it all for me really but couldnt get away with the young or the single but the battle bit feels right.....good luck....i find it interesting what we suddenly think we need or are told we need by the supermarkets at xmas......have u noticed how joints grow and ritz crackers are everywhere........i never eat them but all the supermarkets block my entry with them.........its the pits throwing stuff away in july so im trying to keep a lid on quantities of stuff purchased this challenge will be a useful tool in keeping the quantities of food bought in to this house down...should we start a what to do with turkey leftover debate maybe that could go into the jan thread ?? tata tessonwards and upwards0

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know that the Grocery Challenge is up and running for December. You can find the new thread here
I'm going to 'unstick' this thread now but please keep posting on it if your month hasn't finished yet.
Well done to everyone who took part in the challenge for November and good luck to everyone taking part in the December challenge!

I am declaring £217.16 for November, please - so just snuck in under budget. Dead chuffed, though, as this included most of the meat for the run-up to Christmas (whoopsies safely stashed in the freezer), a massive box of Daz I got for £7 in Asda (which, by my reckoning, should see us through the next six months or so) and a 10 kg sack of potatoes - £1.99 from Netto.0
