Very pushy replacement energy meter calls
Hi all, I wanted to post about a friend's experience with a VERY pushy and rude call about a replacement energy meter. My friend rents, and has both Gas and Electric. She had a call from someone claiming to represent her power company and, seconds into the call they're demanding personal details from her and telling her…

Does the eco function on a dishwasher still save money
A man who came to service our dishwasher recently told my partner that it is no longer economical to use the eco function on a dishwasher as the price of electricity has risen so much. I'm dubious but she gets very annoyed whenever I continue to use the eco function. Is there any truth to this "expert" advice?

Scottish Power credit balance refund
I called Scottish Power to request a refund of my credit balance and was told I could claim a refund but would have to increase my monthly d/d before they would process the refund. I said as my current d/d would more than adequately cover my anticipated gas supply for the coming year I did not want to increase my direct…

Octopus Tracker
I just wondered about people's experiences with this tariff and whether they feel they are winners or losers. I got a quote from them yesterday, and I have to say I find the numbers highly misleading. The figures are very attractive, beating even the good fixed rate tariff I got from Avro, but presumably based on an…

Scottish power failed service
Due to careless and irresponsible attitude of Scottish power, electricity meter wrong serial number issue, no resolution has been made, we have escalated with Ombudsman but he is been fooled by SP requesting date after date (extension) no resolution is made since past 1 year 2 months. March 2023, SP Engineer visited our…

British Gas / Scottish Gas - check your account for "missing" payments
Since late Dec 2023 we’ve been trying to trace payments made to British Gas
/ Scottish Gas (ostensibly the same company). Our bills were paid in full, yet we received constant demands from Scottish
Gas stating the full amount was in arrears? Scottish Gas wanted full payment, again. We were able to provide documentary…

OVO owe me money
This may not be the right forum to raise this matter but, OVO owe me money and have done since September 2023, there's no dispute. I have the amount they owe in writing, yet in spite of repeated contact and their broken promises of repayment this amount has never been repaid. I understand that if it was the other way round…

British Gas - Pay your incorrect bill or get a black mark on your credit record!
Dual bill, gas correct electricity estimate wrong - there was a number after a decimal point, which my meter doesn't have (ignoring correct reading submitted on time). I paid the gas part of the bill and asked for a corrected electricity bill. Months later (I had transferred to UW) still no corrected bill, still showing…

Bionic contract issue with our small business supply - right to cancel?
This time last year (early Dec '22, to be precise), when the energy crisis was at it's apex, and no-one seemed to be able to offer anything other than the most ludicrous unit rates, I used Bionic as a price comparison/broker to find me the best of a bad bunch of rates on a one year contract. I am very much culpable of not…

Fuse Energy, anybody with them?
As they were being mentioned on another thread I thought I would take a look and sure enough very cheap SC for electricity and discounted unit rate by the looks of it. Personally happy with Octopus and our Tracker/Agile seasonal hop-skip-jump but it's always nice to see if the upstairs companies are getting any traction…

I'm with Octopus (transitioned from Bulb)... With manual Gas meter and Digital Electricity meter (Economy 7). Tried taking reading before the weekend as advised, but Electric one no longer showing R02 (Night) Rate... Tarriff changed to "Octo FIX" on LCD after cycling through the "6" display. Seems like meter update has…

Dimplex quantum faulty
I posted a while back about my new quantum 150 using a lot of daytime electricity. It settled in month 2 but then again the bill went high last month. It is also very hot to touch and I now see that it doesn't seem to be switching on and off. The display says comfort off but the heater is red hot. I set it as away with…

Storage heaters & Economy 7 concerns - advice needed
My mum has just bought a flat in a complex for the over 60s. For various reasons it was quite a rushed process and perhaps we made a couple of errors of judgment, but that's done now and what we need are solutions for the situation she is in. She has not yet moved in. The block of flats is electric only, so no gas, and…

Crunch time - end of cheap Sainsbury's fix
It had to happen - my 2 years of paying 20p/kWh for Electricity and 3.8p/kWh for gas are coming to an end on the 1st November. Don't all cry for me at once :D But seriously... need to make a decision, do I go onto one of their fixes (not attractive at all), do I go SVT (which is 27.9p/kWh electric, 6.78p/kWh gas) -…

Octopus System Error - Double check your bill!
Hi all I just had my latest (and final bill) from Octopus and it was around £1000 more than it should be and was due to be taken by Direct Debit. A quick call to their customer service team and was told it was a system error and could just be rectified while I was on the call. It was and I have a new bill that seems more…
