EV tariff for hot tub (no ev)
Anyone use an EV tariff to heat their hot tubs at night. I noticed on Octopus their wording was "Octopus Go is designed for those with ev" then goes on to day reserve right to move you to more suitable tariff etc. I am obviously clinging to "designed" as a get around but I wondered if they actually do any checks.....

British gas fit team are useless
Why are they so useless. Decided to change my FiT to British Gas (BG) as I have a fixed energy deal with them Had been with EDF for years but when they changed their system it was chaos. The changeover to BG went smoothly at first until I decided to move from Deemed energy to SEG. Don't have a battery pack and the best…

Over charged KWh by British Gas
Hi I’m in a dispute with BG, over the last 10 months I’ve used 440m3 gas, so on my latest bill they are saying 440m3 equals 13,852kwh I can’t see how they are getting to this calculation. Is my maths correct ? 440m3 x 39.1 x 1.02264 / 3.6 = 4,887.0829 kWh Please help prove I’m not going mad

Outgoing Octopus is changing to a variable rate tariff
As per the email I've just received, Outgoing is changing from a fixed 15p, to a variable rate. Don't know how often it might change, or by how much. So I'm sure I'll either love it or hate it, at various points in the future. Has anyone been on the variable version for a while? Have the rates changed much / at all?

Octopus - Home Mini Smart Meter Not Working
I wonder if anyone can give me some advice please. Since having a smart meter installed on 26th March 2025, I’ve been left completely in the dark. The engineer gave me the pink Octopus Home Mini, asked me to install the app, and made sure it was set up before leaving. I have followed every instruction — it has remained…

Non RTS Meter - Letter from Scottish Gas
I've had a letter from Scottish Gas confirming my meter is not an RTS metter but suggesting as we still have storage heaters and have a dual rate meter "it may be affected once the radio signal is turned off". Is this possible? I don't want to get a smart meter as the 'phone signal is very poor.

Scottish Power Dispute
Hello all, help needed. We had a Scottish Power top up meter. Meter beeps, we topped it up. Somehow we ran up a balance owed of £1,000, possibly due to the infrequency of the tops ups of gas over the summer. It was never explained very well. In any case, an off shore agent said we could pay by card to clear it or they…

Economy 10 tariffs anyone???

I used to be with SSE and now put over to OVO who have put me on a standard tariff as they don't offer any economy 10/ I've phoned the people who come up on google, british gas, e on and EDF and they all say they don't have economy 10 tariffs. Does…

Smart Meter Not Sending Data to DCC (2+ weeks now)
My smart meter stopped sending both gas and electricity readings to the DCC early on 30/12/24. It had been working seamlessly for the whole year till that point. I'm with Octopus (Elec) and EDF (Gas). The HAN/WAN lights on smart meter are still flashing every 5-6 seconds. The smart meter is still recording usage, and my…

EV tariff with price cap change
Hi, currently I'm on the Intelligent Octopus Go plan with a new EV car so I've not got into a swing of how much it's costing yet. I'm just seeing what people are thinking of doing with the new price cap? There is a lot of talk about fixing but not sure if this really counts for EV owners, however the OVO tariff with the EV…

Smart meter issues - Octopus
Afternoon all, I have an EV, on Intelligent Octopus Go tariff and have lived in my property for just under 2 years, in that time I've had hell with my smart meter. I'm in the north so it's on the radio transmissions (YO7 postcode) When I first moved in I noticed that my meter wasn't communicating, Octopus came out several…

Standing Charges: Gas & Electricity
I'm a pensioner living in a well-insulated flat and I try to minimise my impact on the environment by using as little water, electricity, and gas as I can. My actual usage for all these is low, but the bills I pay don't reflect this because the standing charges for G & E represent between 30% and 50% of the total. It seems…

Solar panels
Why is it that no one appears to have come up with the idea of rotatable panels designed to make max use of the daylight hours? Not 360°, may be just a limited turn taking account of local conditions.

Solar panels (leased) can I install batteries?
I have leased solar panels (a shade greener). They regularly have a surplus going back to the grid in the hours of 10am to 3pm. Does anyone know if installing something like a powerwall battery pack is forbidden. I think there may be alternative battery setups that will make it economically viable now energy prices are…

Economy 10 electricity - Price Comparison
Until very recently I was on an old RTC controlled twin meter setup for my electricity ( THTC - Total Heating Total Control ). The RTC signal is being switched off next year, and I have now had my 2 meters replaced by a single smart meter that can deal with "complex tariffs" and am on Economy 10 with OVO. I'm happy with…

Solar power meter
Hi, hope someone can help. I have an early solar system installed in
2011 where I get paid for kWh generated and a “Deemed” export to
the grid. I have recently had
a hybrid inverter and a battery added to the system. I charge the
battery from the panels and from the grid at low cost times. The installers don’t
seem to…
