Cheap energy club - projected cost
With actual KWh figures entered, on the results pages going through More Info > How Does it compare with my current tariff? the gas and electricity Projected Cost figures showing for Current Supplier seem to be some 3% to 5% higher than I'd expect. The results under New Deal do match calculated figures - assuming a…

initial meter read was an estimate
Hi I recently left a long term controlling relationship and so my head was not in the right space when i moved… I kept the electric supplier the same as the previous tenant at the property and thought the estimated reading would be fairly close… and then i never submitted a reading. Its not a smart meter. A few months…

British Gas - Unlawful Charges (BW legal)
I was a British Gas customer for many years. During the escalation in energy prices, I switched to a SVT (Standard Variable Tariff). I switched to another provider as British Gas charges were too high. British Gas sent me invoices for cancellation charges on my accounts with them. I wrote to them to point out that these…

E7 Contactor Installation
I am on an E7 contract with Octopus with new storage heaters. When the electrician fitted the new heaters, he removed the 3 phase contactor and put everything on 24hr to avoid having to fit new 24hr feeds on the same phase as the heaters. Charging period is currently controlled at the heater level which works fine, but…

Smart meter connections
Our supplier has been unable to connect to our new smart meter, as the meter cannot get a mobile phone signal. I am sure we aren't the only rural energy customers who live in an area with poor mobile phone signal. We read about plans for a secure, dedicated network for smart meters which will not rely on mobile phone…

Using Scottish Power EV Tariff
I would encourage anyone using the Scottish Power's EV Tariff to check their electricity bill carefully. Three times in a row my bill has had adding up errors in it, the mistake being in their favour! Having tried to get them to fix the problem twice, I have switched to Octopus and received a final bill from Scottish Power…

Government Price reduction in April
I am in the process of switching energy supplier from Octopus to British gas under the MSE collective. In your weekly emails, you are saying that both suppliers will reduce their tariffs accordingly in April. I have contacted both companies and they both said they will NOT be reducing their tariffs as they are fixed. What…

Anyone used Rointe heaters?
We've currently got storage heaters as we don't have gas but they are proving to be very expensive to use. A friend has suggested these as a replacement and their sales blurb seems quite convincing but cannot find any real world reviews anywhere Any advice would be appreciated as we're freezing our bits of!!!

Accessing my smart meter data?
Previously I had a zigbee hall sensor taped to the front of my gas meter and it detected the magnet on the first unit as it turned, I was able to capture this data and put it into graphs etc. With my new smart meters I obviously cannot do this, can I get access to my half-hourly usage data somehow?

Fuse energy- Horrendous
I signed up with fuse with a tempting saving, monthly amount quoted and reviews seemed reasonable. Ive had a horrible experience from start 6 months ago and will be leaving, penalty or not. NO customer service, no human response and no phone number for us that struggle with apos. bills change constantly, more taken from…

Scottish Power accidentally deleted then re-opened me a new account without permission
The title is the very short of it, but in summary, I asked in December to change my tariff, they said there was an issue with my account that needed fixed first, and skip forward to now, and they managed to delete my account in error, set me up a new one, hard credit check me again in the process even though they told me…

Fake Energy Advisors?
I don't know where to post this but I keep getting phone calls from people claiming to be my local energy advisor. British Gas switch through MSE question
I am currently with BG and was looking at that switch. Part of the process is where you put in what your current tariff with BG is. Mine is called “Cheapest Fix Tariff “ That tariff is not listed so I just choose any tariff to see what the actual unit and standing charges are. The day electricity and standing charge is a…

EDF Gas Smart Meter issues (ongoing...)
We have a smart meter with EDF for gas and electricity It’s been working ok for years. We pay monthly direct debit whole amount. In December 2024 I thought the debit was a little low but didn’t think too much about it. In January 2025 again, I saw a low debit so checked our EDF account and saw that the gas meter was only…

Anyone heard of HomeEnergy?
I'm with Octopus in a 3-bed semi. I was lucky enough to sign up for fixed dual fuel for 2 years in June 21. So this ends in 4 days time. I hardly use any gas at all ever. I won't be using much LX either until it gets cold in September. Most comparison sites appear to have decided to give up. Weird. However, I found one…
