Electricity meter readings are 20x higher than average and I don't know why
I have always been pretty consistent about submitting meter readings monthly and six months ago I noticed my electricity meter reading (I have a gas meter as well but that has been fine) was about twice as high as I would have expected. I put this down to it having just been Christmas. But a month later it was 5x higher…

Rebel Energy in administration
December 2024, switched energy supplier to Octopus from rebel energy. Rebel Energy went into administration in April 2025 taken over by British gas. We are now being chased by Oriel Collections service to recover outstanding payment on behalf of Rebel Energy. I always paid Rebel energy by Direct Debit. Why didn't rebel…

UW credit
Hi I was with utility warehouse and in my August bill I was £540 in credit with them. But since then my credit has disappeared in all of my statements. I contacted them and received a text message a week later to say my credit would appear in my October statement. But it didn't I contacted them again and they said my…

Tapo p110 does it have to go directly into socket
Thought this would take a minute to find out on google but not getting far. Have a fridge and a separate small freezer plugged into a multi plug that goes into the socket.. Does the Tapo p110 have to go directly into the socket. If so i can't monitor the freezer on it's own. It's the only socket in the pantry. If so could…

Refund from Igloo energy/e-on next
I received a letter in Nov 2021 from eon next saying they were appointed by Ofgem to take on Igloo energy supply customers. They advised that i had a final credit balance of £18.64. I have emailed them (eon) several times and they say that im not owed any funds. I have it in writing and have sent them the letter but their…

Rebel Energy/Oriel Collections
I received an estimated bill from Rebel energy in August. It was relating back to March/April when they ceased trading. I am now being pursued by Oriel debt collection. But I have told them repeatedly that the estimate was much higher than the real reading. I have sent them a picture of the meter in November 2024 and…

Scottish Gas
Looking for advice about a dispute with Scottish Gas relating to my late fathers energy bill. He had a smart reader which did not work and we constantly complained about it. My Dad paid his bills even though they were estimates. He passed away in October 2023 and I contacted Scottish Gas who told me not to pay any bills…

The Student Energy Group + Corona
My son has recently moved into a new rental and requested to switch his energy suppliers to Octopus. Electricty switch went smoothly, whilst the current gas supplier objected. He investigated with the landlord to find the previous tenants had gas supplied via The Student Energy Group - TSEG (but not electricity). So, son…

Comparing electricity tariffs by unit rates rather than payment (Economy 7)
I have an electricity-only home and am on an Economy 7 tariff (i.e. Day and Night unit rates). I'm prepared to shop around to find the best tariff to be on. I understand you need to agree to a monthly Direct Debit amount (or quarterly, or whatever). But what I really want is to track down the tariff with the best night…

Utility Warehouse - complete inability to tell night from day
Hi, I have an Economy 7 tariff with Utility Warehouse. I faithfully submit meter readings (Day and Night) to them in order to keep bills accurate, and ensure with an eagle eye and high levels of diligence that I always submit these the correct way round. However, they are without fail always applied the incorrect way round…

smart meter

I think this is wrong. also the night rate which heats up our storage heaters clocks up the normal amount has anyone…

Energy suppliers and the £400 grant
Are they basing their direct debit amounts for new fixes Inclusive of the monthly grant or are they ignoring it, in which case winter monthly DDs should be £30+ lower?

Lack of response from GivEnergy
I am looking for anyone who has had dealings with GivEnergy in the hope that they could advise me what action I can take. So far I have contacted Citizen's Advise and Ofgem and created a complaint with Resolver. In April we were approached by the company who fitted our solar system, Solar Armour. They suggested that we…

British Gas Bills
Hi All I am having nothing but trouble with my British Gas Bills. My mother died last year then British Gas started bombarding me with letters and request for payments etc. I have now spoken to three or four separate people from British Gas who have assured me that everything has been sorted out with accurate bills and the…

Do you have to be on the electricity grid customer?
I'm in the midst of other energy research at the moment, when this thought came to me. I am a customer of the electricity company, but do I have to be? If I can provide all my electrical needs, can I tell them to disconnect the service? If it is possible, could I just have an electricity supply for 3 months? Is there…

Frozen smart meter
We have smart meters from Scottish power. Both electric and gas are pay as you go. Over 2 years ago our electric meter reading froze, and has not recorded any increase in our usage since, so we have essentially been getting free electricity since then. It was reported at the time, and they said they would send an engineer…

uSwitch power hours
First I would like to say 👋as I'm new to this forum. Has anyone done the uSwitch 5 hours weekend free electric before? I've signed up for it but notice that if you are already opted in to a similar one with your energy company you have to opt out of that because you are automatically registered with uSwitch and can't be in…

Octopus energy mistake 50000units not 5000
So much for award winning customer service , they have refused to call me or investigate my case , in short they made a mistake for years and took my Elec meeter reading as 4 digits me when it should have been 5 , now ive gone from £1000 in credit to £5000 in debt

Is it a good idea to fix now before the October price cap?
Octopus have offered a fixed tariff for the next 12 months. Being able to predict what I'll pay is really important to me, especially in the current climate. Is it worth fixing now or should we wait until the price cap is dropped to see if the tariffs drop at all - or are they more likely to rise? Thank you.
