Did price comparison on Sunday, entered exact energy usage:

Elec: 2,058 kWh

Gas: 13,699 kWh

MSE site gives me this:

MSE site says can't give you the deal directly go to supplier website. Clicked the button to go to supplier website.

Enter my details on supplier website, everything identical, Octopus gives me this (not 5 minutes later):

Called Octopus this morning to ask if they can honour the MSE deal. Requotes me at £174 a month on standard variable rate.

Through our conversation reveals that he can see my earlier quote of £161 and can honour that price.

Has "no idea where MSE gets their figures from" and "no, we cannot offer those rates".

Obviously it's a variable rate so it will go up anyway, but would be good if we could at least start from the same baseline.

It looks to me as though MSE have mapped your address to the the wrong region.

Which region are you in? Are you near the edge of it?

Ok makes sense. If they want to get in touch privately I'll let them know. Thanks.

I think the simple answer is that MSE are quoting the current Jul 26 cap prices and Octopus the Oct 26 cap prices. That is what I see when I compare the two sites.

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.

Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.
