Hello,

I am with BG and fixed deal ends on 1.11.26; i pay by DD and my account is in credit of £180. My new tarriff was increasing by £80 per month so I switched yesterday to a cheaper fixed rate. My balance tracker estimates i should be in debit of £13 at my next DD review on 1.10.26. i will allow my next BG DD to go through on 1.10.26 then cancel it to cover any final bill.

My concern is whether BG will issue a large bill for July - Oct 2026 e.g. £500 - £600; following my switch or will the DD / credit have covered this and i will be left with a small amount to pay e.g. £10 - 20?

I havent switched suppliers for a number of years so not sure what to expect.

They'll bill you for whatever you have used, switching doesn't change that. Best to leave the DD active as it will speed up any credit payments you are due on closure
