Back Up Generator
I have a friend who has a child with cerebral palsy. As he gets older and bigger, she relies more and more on lifting equipment during their daily lives. Her existing energy supplier has offered her a back up generator but she'd really like the freedom to switch suppliers. Are there people on here who have experience of…

Variable vs Fixed Options Advice
Over the past couple of days I have spent hours looking at various fixed and variable tariffs on offer, for two properties (mine and an elderly relative's). My brain has now turned to mush and I feel incredibly stupid. I could really be doing with fresh eyes and some sense to help me figure this out. My case: low usage…

Ombudsman complaint - and specialist advice/analysis?
I'd really appreciate some advice on: 1) How to notify an energy company to stop sending demands for a disputed debt 2) Whether there is anyone who can help with preparing the case for the Energy Ombudsman. 3) What a company will have to send based on a SAR I'll try to summarise details as best I can below but it's been…

Storage heaters - to replace or not
So I have a bunch of ancient storage heaters that need replacing. Is it worth it? For multiple reasons I'd rather not go into, electric heating is the only option but are normal electric heaters going to be a cheaper alternative? Has anyone else made the switch? Any advise you can give?

British Gas - Advice
Hi, I need some advice. Yesterday, I got a call from British Gas, offering me to go on Direct Debit for my Gas and Electric as they felt that Prepayment meter is no long useful to me anymore, due to my health issues (Mental Health) and my mobility, due to my dislocated knee cap. Anyway, I agreed as I think it will be…

Incorrect energy billing adjustment
Hi all, After logging onto my OVO energy account this morning I noticed that somehow I've gone from being roughly £200 in credit to £190 in debit. This must've happened over the course of the weekend as, sadly enough, I check my account near on daily. To give some background info, I moved into my property and tied myself…

Feed in Tariffs
I’m selling house with solar panels. Invested £13000 in panels in 2011 and have received £25k back so far. Were lucky we got in on high tariff of 43.3 pkwh at the time. Now itis 68.3. There are 12 years to go on the contract and I reckon a conservative £30000 to come to new owners with zero investment on their part. Would…

Hi all, newbie here, Can someone shed some light on who is at fault with the following switch, and the saga which is still ongoing? Octopus Energy Fixed Tariff
I'm seeking advice on whether to switch to a different tariff please. I'm currently on a 12-month fixed until 24th February but asked Octopus to check if there was another tariff that we should be on, especially with the October rises. They have suggested the 15 month fix, which is slightly more expensive than what we're…

Scottish Power, again!
Scottish Power made an appointment to repair our smart meter. The guy didn't turn up, and they rang that day and made a new appointment. Is there a £30 penalty for that? To clarify, the smart meter was fitted some time ago, but it has never worked properly, and they now wish to do something to make it connect better with…

EDF smart meter 30 minute slots energy hub
Help please. I have to select whether I want the smart meter to send readings every 30 mins. From what I've read, the energy hub just seems to make odd predictions on how you are using your electricity. What I do need to see though is how much is being used at certain times as I'm on Econ 7 and need to know when things are…
