Change of Meters
Ok, so a few weeks ago I put a post on here regarding my electricity meter and an email I had received from EON saying that the certification date on the meter had expired and it now needed to be changed (for a smart meter). I really really didn't want one as I hear more bad things about them than good, and I prefer to do…

Cheap Energy Club disappointing
Today's MSE email said that the E.on Next 18 month fix would be 8% cheaper than the cap. Cheap Energy Club said "No saving, £5 per year extra" ! I know there's a rider that the result depends on location and usage, but that's a heck of a difference. I'd love to know where the 8% saving is correct.

Warm Home Discount 2024
Does anyone know if there will still be a Warm Home Discount this coming Winter? I previously was entitled to it due to being on PIP and ESA, and then two years ago they changed the criteria as automatically for pensioners and the other categories had to have a certain EPC on their homes and I missed out. I finally turned…

EDF Energy Hub not showing correct use of energy
Hi All, Just wondering if others are currently having (or had) similar issue as this; The online EDF energy hub is not recording the correct usage of energy, see photo below; Ok, I know the time scales are slightly differing sizes, but the peaks on our actual energy monitor are exactly right, whereas the one on the online…

Hive Heating Plus subscription
I have Hive mini controls and occasionally look at the graph to see temperature fluctuations and how long it takes to reach target temperature. The graph tells me how long the heating has been on for, but offers more detail if I subscribe to Hive Heating Plus at £3.99 per month. Does anyone find this is helpful? We don’t…

Powerbank for an electric oil heater using Economy 7
Bit of a random thought. We're on Economy 7, cannot afford to do solar PV with a battery, I was wondering whether one of those big power banks people use for camping would be able to charge overnight then run an oil filled radiator as needed in the evening when our storage heaters have gone off. Anyone know about these…

overcharged for 1 day
I did complain to Eon. I've moved to my new property on 19th Jan 2024. Once moved in, next day, 20th Jan, gas and electric was under a different company's name and I still have the readings. I have received a letter from Eon on 10th October suggesting that I still have to pay for one day, 19th January 2024, £19.99. Similar…

Octopus customer - should I join "Tracker"?
Hi there. I'm on Octopus and currently on a 12 month fix until late summer 2025. Rates are fixed at a little below the current SVT and there are no exit fees. Should I switch to the Tracker? Seems like the Tracker rates are quite high right now. But over time it's usually a better deal, right? Can't decide!

Octopus Solar and battery install - issues to watch out for
Hi If anyone is having solar fitted by Octopus, please regularly check during the install process and ask to see proof that the items are being fitted correctly. We recently had solar panels and a battery installed and had issues from start to finish. In summary: -our measurements indicated we could fit 10 panels on the…

Moving house - when to tell energy supplier
Hi all, some advice please. I'm hoping to move house shortly and I don't know when to tell my energy supplier. No sale is certain until you've actually exchanged contracts so if I tell them before that and the purchase falls through what do I do? I'm with So Energy. The seller of the house I'm hoping to buy is with Octopus…

ECO scheme and other schemes for boilers, tenants, not owner occupiers
So background, central heating exists, but boiler is now defunct (failed check and too old for replacement parts). Landlord unsurprisingly wants to install expensive to run, cheap to install electric panel heating system. Checked schemes, and I noticed owner occupier is more generous for no logical reason, tenant schemes…

EDF Shady Behaviour Help?
Hi, I have recently logged onto my edf account and there was a gas bill from 03/10 to 03/11 for 591.4400 kWh @ £42.43. When I checked my meter readings the reading on the 03/10 was 8 and on 3/11 was 57. I worked out I used 48m^3 of gas which works out as 540 kWh, when I rang and told them they said their system was right,…

Smart meter upgrade
I've had a smart meter for several years and know when my quarterly bill is due so send in both gas & electric readings. However, this last year BG have constantly sent me emails and texts stating there is a problem with my smart meter not sending readings (it never has) so they need to send an engineer to upgrade the…

single supply quantum rad question
Hi, I had my 3rd quantum QM125RF G6 dimplex radiator installed a few days ago. All are run on single supply. The first two are working fine. As I bought 2nd hand the first two i used the previous owners settings and they work fine. Only setting i changed was heater storage times. I'm on intelligent octopus Go tarif. It…

Octopus Go and Economy 7
Has anyone here tried using Octopus Go tariff with Economy 7? We don't have an EV, but do have storage heaters, looking at the numbers on Octo-Aid to compare the tariffs it looks like it might work quite well. Though we'd lose 2 hours charging on the storage heaters, but the bulk of charging is at the start of the charge…

Smart Meter fitting aborted
My fixed tarriff with EDF came to an end, and the only way I could get their (or anyone else's) cheapest tarriff was to agree to have a Smart Meter fitted A fitting was booked and the engineer arrived. He said he was unable to fit me a new Gas meter, as the regulations say they have to be attached to the wall. My cellar is…

Have just started a fixed-rate tarriff with British Gas, for electricity - their get-out clause
and as per usual, in my "welcome" email, they've given themself a back door. a fairly huge back door. Tariff type Fixed** ** The price is fixed until your tariff ends unless the government or regulator does something that changes it. (I realise this is kWh and standing charge, and not the actual amount the bills will be)…

Moving house - are tariffs transferable?
If Im on tariff that has exit fees would I be able to transfer to new house or would exit fee be payable in general?
