Yes, very much so. I dislike the heat, the strong damaging sun and excessively long hours of daylight. It's only symbolic - the day itself is just like any other - but September 1st, when I turn the calendar over to the new month, is one of the high points of the year for me.

I find it difficult. The switch from trying to keep the house cool to paying to keep it warm.

My water butts, used to flush the toilet, have almost run dry, down to about half of the last one, but that is not unusual, and it is easier to keep the house cool using passive measures than it is to keep it warm so not too excited at the waning of summer. I am looking forward to the end of the school holidays and the tourists crowds going back to work, though.
  • Oh god no. If I had my way I’d fly south at the first sign of frost. Arthritis is much worse in winter.

Cannot wait. Everything round here is brown and bone dry, harvests have been ruined, rivers and reservoirs at historic lows. Sadly we're going to have to get used to it.

Bring on the rain for now.

No, I'm not really looking forward to paying for heating instead of getting it for free.
  • And I thought it was just me who's been looking forward to the cooler autumn months and winter evenings sitting in front of a roaring log fire - bring it on  I find it much easier to keep warm in the winter than cool in the summer, although the aircon courtesy of the air to air heat pumps has been a godsend this year. It has been a cracking year in the vegetable garden though, and I don't think I've ever seen so much fruit on the trees and in the hedgerows.

I think this summer has been just about perfect. A month or two ago the plants were starting to look a little dry, and the day after I noticed it, there was a few hours of torrential rain. They are only just starting to show signs of drought now, and there is rain forecast for the rest of the week. The only watering I've done is from two fills of a 200 litre water butt, and a little kitchen water.

Aaaaah the British disease, the weather is the weather, live with it, or read about Harry and Meghan, Farage, Tax, the government or the other things the British we complain about. Yes it’s been hot and dry in places, it’s been cloudy when my panels don’t need it.
Me I worry about no sign of a cure for Cancer, or other terminal ailments.
