British Gas Membership and Boiler Service Worth it?

Hi all,
I’ve been researching the best places to get my boiler serviced (less than three years old). I hear British Gas are offering a discount of £69 to join as a member and get a free annual boiler service.
The options are to pay in full or split over a year via Direct Debit (£5.75/m). I’m thinking to opt for the monthly payments, get the free boiler service and cancel to membership and Direct Debit.
I’ve been tempted to go with my local plumber who’s good, but if I can save money…
I know British Gas have a reputation for mixed reviews but does anyone have this membership and/or can share their experience with GB boiler services?
TIA

What are you going to do next year when British Gas charge you full price? Your local plumber may tell you he’s prioritising his regular customers and hasn’t got space for you. My local plumber installed our boiler 12 years ago and I’ve used him every year since to service it. He’s been turning down new customers but still will come out to service or fix my boiler. I’m happy to support him rather than British Gas.1

Just checking that you mean you'll cancel at the end if the year, as it's not a rolling monthly subscription like most TV streaming services? As for experiences...my friend (aged 75+) had a policy with them, and her boiler broke down in winter. BG told her to find a local person to service it, and send them the bill, as they were too busy to come out.Needless to say, that policy wasn't renewed.I had BG boiler cover free one year, but refused to use it. I would rather employ my regular gas safe chap, who responds same day if it's a break down in winter. He's much more professional, reliable, and happy to explain anything he's doing.0 -
In my past experience of BG once you have boiler cover they'll constantly pressure you to take other services like domestic appliance cover or drains cover.
It's worth paying a bit more just to avoid the hassle!0
