Money Moral Dilemma: Should my partner contribute more to household bills as he works from home?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... I work part-time from my workplace and look after our child one day a week to save on childcare costs. My partner works full-time from home, using two computers, cooking food and having the lights and heating on as required. He contributes more towards bills than I do, as I…

Unable to change Gas & elec supplier as wrong meter on the national database
I moved into my property in July 2021 and changed my pay as you go meter to a smart meter. I tried to switch suppliers but was told the national database still showed my meter as a pay as you go. I contact my current supplier EDF Energy who assured me this had been changed. A couple of weeks later I went through the same…

British Gas have literally destroying my life
I have been a customer for 13 years and I have been let down tremendously by British Gas. 2 years ago my husband and I separated I needed to change the direct debit to the 1st of the month to keep an eye on bills by myself. I work full time and get no help from him at all so I needed everything in check. It took them 4…

Any one know how to escape from Student energy group? Want to switch supplier in new flat
Daughter and her friend have moved (back in Aug!) into a flat at uni. Tenants, via an agent who hasn't been all that useful. They haven't managed to get registered with an electricity provider yet - network check reports they are supplied by Tomato energy, but they don't provide energy to the area. Finally they've managed…

Overcharged for gas by Octopus
I would be grateful for any advice on escalating an issue I am having with Octopus. On 20 December 2023 I received a gas bill of £7,214.64, charging me for 3512.4 units of gas during the period 1 October 2023 to 17 December 2023. The charge was based on two estimates: an estimated reading of 5171.4 on 1 October and 8683.7…

Fix energy or stay with Price Cap / Change provider?
Although I read the very recent Andrew Capstick's article "Should I fix my energy or stay with Price Cap" and others, I cannot understand what would be cheaper for me: I consume and spend almost half of a typical household. I currently have a Shell Flexible 13 v2. I read the MSE articles many times but I get lost. I also…

Sainsbury’s Energy - Bill Dispute
I recently switched energy supplier and the closing statement with the old supplier included charges from over 12 months previous. I challenged this under the back billing rules. The supplier is saying that the back billing rules only apply if the charges created a negative amount (debit). The account was in considerable…

EON Next - Backbilling after Requesting Credit?!
Hi there, I’m hoping someone can help me understand if I am in the right to complain & take this issue to the Energy Ombudsman, or if they’ve had the same experience with any supplier: I’ve been with Eon Next who’ve been supplying my gas and electric since April 2023, which I have been sending both monthly readings for…

Boss of Octopus on useless SM (IHD)

Can Smart Meters cause reduction in Gas pressure?
I had a smart meter installed in November by E-ON, all working
OK, no issues. Shortly after I had my annual Boiler service via Baxi and
was given a notice that the Gas pressure had reduced to 16mb, below the boilers
normal working pressure of 17mb. The pressure coming into the meter from the mains
is 19mb. Previous boiler…

British Gas Refund
Good morning, I transferred from British Gas to an alternative supplier in
October / November 2023. Shortly after, I noticed that my BG account was £2,600 in
credit and requested a refund from them. Since then I have had numerous ‘chats’ with their customer team who have
repeatedly promised the issue will be resolved by…

EDF - smart meter and energy hub problems
I own a house which has been vacant since March 2023 and is in the process of being sold, contracts signed but no completion date yet. I have been with EDF since the house was vacated by the previous tenant who had smart meters installed and also used EDF. Everything was going well until mid November 2023 with bills being…

Energy Switch Error - Resulting in Debt
This is one of those issues in life where you have to devote the
right amount of energy and time on it as you know it's a heavy piece of
investigating that needs to be done and sadly I just haven't been in the right
mental space to tackle what I expect may be tricky to unpick, but I'm really grateful to anyone who has any…

Economy 10 Tariff
I assist my elderly brother-in-law with his finances. OVO provides him with an Economy 10 tariff. Until about a year ago the Off-peak price was about 34% less than the Peak rate. It is now only a 20% saving between the Off-peak and Peak rates. Have customers of other energy companies seen a similar stealth increase?

Gas used as cost basis for charging customers
I wonder if someone out there can help me? I seem to remember when the Ukraine war started and energy priced rocketed there was noises coming from the government that they would look into how energy costs were calculated. If I remember rightly the argument was that suppliers get to charge on the most expensive supplied…

Switch2 Astronomical moving out Bill
Hi, We recently moved out of accommodation in London for which Switch2 was one of the energy providers. We are now…
