Can someone tell me how how the hell I'm supposed to read this meter?????
I'm supposed to have two rates but I can only get to show me one. Quite frankly the the whole thing is as clear as mud. Why they can't just have one button labelled "show me my usage" I have absolutely no idea. Oh no, that would be too easy!

Booked a smart metre. How is it connected?
Hi all Just booked in for a smart metre, bit nervous if I am doing the right thing. Also wanted to know if it will be connected to the electric with its own fuse spark isolator ie if something goes wrong with it that it won't trip anything else in my property? Here's the current set up ie a photo. Any advice appreciated

April 2025 price cap
Let's assume that the price cap rises 10% in October and then stays the same in January 2025. Is there a way to work out how much it would then have to fall in April 2025 to make a fixed deal now worthwhile?

Crazy high electricity usage with EDF
Hi Everyone I have been with EDF for a few years now, since before the big price hikes due to the war in Ukraine. First issue I has was them trying to bill me for 12000KWH of usage in the first 24 hours of having an account with them, I complained but they ignored, the ombudsman then smashed them to bits within 24 hours of…

I have no clue about energy tariffs - Can anyone help
Hello, I dont really understand anything about heating tariffs and what I should do with my current situation. I have come to the end of a very low priced 4 year fixed rate service with EDF that my dad told me was a good deal!. I just moved into a new to me house and need to sort out the energy - Gas and Electric. I have…

British Gas non payment of FITS payments
Despite various attempts to contact British Gas and 2 submissions of my FIT readings I have not received a penny from them since September 2020. I wonder if they are so lax when it comes to cutting peoples energy supply if they are late with payment. Is there some kind of ombudsman I can contact to get the idiots moving? I…

Liabilities of Supplier of Last Resort
I live on a small retirement estate. The estate is all electric, no gas. My energy supplier was EON. In July 2019, EON fitted a new meter because there was a fault on the existing one. In February 2020, I switched suppliers to Bristol Energy (Together Energy). I was with Bristol Energy until it went bust in January 2022. I…

British Gas Tariffs
My Dad has been with B-Gas for many years, he gets quarterly bills which is his preference. He has a smart meter which has not registered for some months, though he is still getting bills which are inline with expectations. Calls to their 'helpline' are futile. I have been online to try and check what tariff are available…

Standing Charges
I have just fixed my dual fuel tariff with British Gas as it will save me £10 a month on my last fixed deal from last September. However my standing charges have risen by a staggering 11.4% which is a rip off. Standing charges were introduced many moons ago to cover the cost of reading meters by suppliers employees. With…

EDF Standing Charge - paying twice?!
I was switched over to EDF when the company I was with went under and they are chasing me to change to a smart meter for which I am not keen. My question is this - I moved into my house which was on the old Economy 7 set-up which I did not want or need so it was agreed that the 2 meters would be used and charged at the…

Winter fuel payment suggestion
Martin suggested that the winter fuel allowance could be determined by the government using council tax bands a to d to allocate an allowance for pensioners. I feel this criteria is unfair. Just because a pensioner lives in an F band, doesn't mean they have more disposable incomse. Indeed often the opposite as the house is…

Getting my smart meter fixed - Octopus
My smart meter hasn't worked since I moved in here in August 2022 - so two years. To begin with I wasn't bothered but then wanted to change to a variable tariff ( I'm with Octopus) so in 2023 asked for them to fix my meter. They tried remotely and couldn't, then sent out an engineer in November 2023 who said it was…

Octopus Fixed 12 Months
Hi, Apologies if this is a silly question. I'm currently with Octopus on the Flexible Octopus Tariff and wanted to change to the Fixed 12 Months Tariff. I have tried and it seems to think I'm a new customer, although the emailed quote shows my account balance. Is the fixed tariff only available for new customers? Thanks

I'm new to a prepayment meter. Should I top up more during the price cap or..?
...does it not work like that? If I top up a lot now during the cap will it lock in the rate at the box or point of sale? Or will the rate change automatically. Thanks.
