hi all, question for anyone on edf
normally i allow the smart side of the meter to send my readings on both gas and electric
and both gas and electric are always on the same bill
but today i have  received my bill, and no gas section on the bill
should i send a actual reading to generate a gas bill or leave it to be added onto sept bill via smart

I used to be on EDF. In your position I'd submit a reading.

I'm with Edf for Gas and Electric  and get separate bills  - may be  result of becoming my supplier at different times following SOLR for two supplies.

As per @QrizB take your own reading and submit
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I am with EDF, submit readings from both meters the 1st of the month & get one accurate bill showing both supplies on one document.  It usually arrives within 24 hours.  This month it was online within 3 hours of my submission.

I had an issue a few months back where I could only enter a gas reading on the usual day.  That resulted in a bill for gas then a few days later a separate (estimated) one for electric.

I do have SMs but opted to take & submit my own readings, as I have always recorded them on a spreadsheet & know on a daily basis exactly what I am spending without a crappy IHD staring at me 24/7.

ive now received a bill for my gas
the start reading is a smart reading then i also have 4 "Data collector reading" on 4 different days in july none were done by a real person as the gas meter is inside the house and nobody has been to read the meter, and a actual reading which i done to make the bill

Think data collector reading is an interim poll of the smart meter between billing dates. I get them on my bills ,but I let the smart meters do their own thing.

Data collector readings don't show any decimal places unlike the start & end gas smart meter reading

Don't know if edf use it for other purposes in the background.

Sometimes the system requests a reading but (for one reason or another) it doesn't arrive. You (and I) might think that they'd have internal checks and repeat the request in such circumstances, but it seems they don't.
Check your bill again next month and see if the problem repeats.

I don't see how they could do that? It's only debt if they bill you and you don't pay.
Are you on a fixed DD, variable DD or something else?
