New build - how do I pick best tariff/SEG

Hi folks, I'm hoping for some advice, please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area.
I moved into a new build house in May and the builder put me with British Gas and now I'm settled I need to find the best tariff. The builders fitted 8 solar panels. I'm in Newcastle, the house isn't ideally situated to catch the sun and is partly shaded by trees so I don't expect to generate much power.
I've joined energy club and got some quotes but how do I choose the best overall deal bearing in mind I will presumably generate a small amount of power and recoup some money under the SEG?
Do all suppliers participate in the SEG (if that's the correct terminology) so is it just a case of picking the cheapest tariff and contacting them about the SEG or do I have to try to weigh the cheapest tariff with the best SEG payment (if that makes sense).
All help gratefully accepted.

Did the builders give you a MCS certification, and a G98/G99 , and hopefully an export MPAN. That is your first priority.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

Excuse my ignorance but I'm not sure. They gave me a "Customer Data Sheet" which has lots of info including the installed capacity of the PV system (3.24 kWp) from the supplier "Eco2solar" and a Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate but I can't see any of the abbreviations you've mentioned. Probably irrelevant but they installed an electric car charger which will be handy when I change to an EV in about 18 months.0

Thats good, is British Gas aware of the MPAN and are they paying yOu. Eon,Octopus and others pay fair SEG rates, there is a thread on here for SEG too.
