Did anyone agree to their energy company sharing their contact details and details of their energy use and costs on the national data base so that prospective energy suppliers can chase them?

Issue with British Gas withholding credit on old billing system
Some pre-text to this thread: I am no longer a British Gas customer. I left British Gas a year ago after ongoing issues with them withholding my credit. I left BG almost £1000 in credit which took almost a month to get back after I left as a customer. This brings us to October 2024, In early October, I received an email…

radiator fans
I'm wondering how useful these are. I've seen some for sale at Lidl recently - at least I think they were for rads and not wood stoves. But it seems to me that a simple fan that is moved by the rising heat would be a useful thing to move the heat away from a particular wall and across a room. Any ideas on ones that go on…

Which batteries are better ECS or EQ
I am going to upgrade my Fox ESS batteries, I have been looking at the ECS and EQ 4800 range as these are best bang for buck and I have Fox ESS inverter already installed. The question is which of these are better? The main difference between these two types of battery is the charge and discharge rate

Storm Darragh. Freezer contents claim.
Since the severe winds last weekend, were without electric for just over 3 days 18 hours (as were all of our small village). I had to ditch the contents of freezer in my works skip, and tomorrow will be refilling it. I am preparing to claim for cost of this food (as well as National Grid's other hourly payment (£85 1st…

Being Old has it's Advantages, Sometimes.
Eon has just given me £150 credit on my fuel bill because I am 80 years old. At least I think that is why but I'm not enquiring too deeply.

EDF Sunday saver Econ 7 fair use - help!
I've read the other thread but can anyone please explain how this actually works? I have 16 hours of 'free' electricity to use tomorrow. Before I go wild with the tumble dryer, how can I work out what I'm using so that it fits the fair use policy? The IHD I have for the smart meter rarely works as it drops out so I can't…

Hypocrisy of the Energy Companies
I live in a flat complex, which is electricity only, have storage heating and applied for an Economy 10 tariff and meter via SSE when I moved in 5 years ago. Most people here are on Economy 7, but I prefer Economy 10 as it gives me 3 hours off peak afternoon and 2 hours off peak evening use, as well as 5 hours overnight…

EDF energy - no supply to property and refusing to help
EDF are the supplier, we had an electrician out to the flat yesterday who claimed it was not the electrics causing the issue. EDF are refusing to attend the property as on their side the meter is fine. There was confusion on whether it was prepayment or not. Apparently it used to be but previous occupant changed it to…

Best electric wall heater for a flat
Hello. Can anyone please help me. I'm on economy 7 and have a relatively modern elnur storage heaters but never seem to be warm, especially after a day's work when most of the stored heat has been released when I'm away from the flat. Octopus Smart Electric Meter
I finally got a smart meter last week (6 Dec). I was impressed with installation, all very quick and painless so far! I was given the pink octopus mini device which is all plugged in. I've noticed I'm getting some usage on the app, so far I've got for 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10th but nothing yet for 11th. It seems to come through…

Smart Meter Installation - Why is inside access needed if meters are outside?
I recently moved my dual-fuel supply to Octopus and they have now told me that my (non-smart) electricity meter is past its certification date and needs to be replaced with a smart meter. Nothing mentioned about the gas meter, even though it's very likely the same age. The Octopus website says that even if meters are…

EON meter - no gas supply - unique circumstances
I've lived in my social housing flat 4 years. I only use electricity
but there’s an old disconnected (since 2015) gas meter. I've never thought twice about it apart from
that it takes up space and assumed as it’s a tower block that the gas had been
disconnected as a lot of high rises had done for safety ( found out since…

Guidance on Smart Meter (Dual tariff Scotland, Any tariff please)
Background: I’ve lived in my house in Scotland for 26 years, a new build at the time. It’s an all-electric property with two meters, likely installed under the "Economy 10" or "White Meter" setup common back then. We use storage heaters and currently have both meters on a standard variable tariff with Scottish Gas. The…

SMETS 2 meters in Oxon
Can anyone in Oxfordshire confirm successful functioning of a SMETS 2 electricity meter? OVO are trying to force me to get one but an OVO engineer told me it could not work without a mobile signal. Seeing info here on MSE I realise he was probably talking about SMETS 1, but I am still suspicious of the veracity of OVO's…

Economy 7
Hi Everyone, Economy 7 storage heaters were installed in 80's in my Council house plus got a hot water tank and I submit dual readings monthly for an all electric house. I have heard that by June 2025 the RTS type will be phased out. I don't use the storage heaters to be honest (1 is not working) and rely on electric fire…

Renting - switching supplier
Hi, Just about to rent my first (studio) flat. Letting agents have set me up with Ovo - without asking. Tenancy agreement has a clause where I must notify landlord if I switch and switch back at the end of tenancy. Is this legal (especially the switching back bit). Is it worth the hassle of switching?

Economy 7 with "normal" meter
We have what I would consider a normal electricity meter, four terminals L and N in and L and N out. It's a SMETS2 smart meter. Is there any reason we couldn't go onto E7, or would the meter need to be changed?
