Has anyone found an off-peak Eco7 rate that gets close to Utility Warehouse?
I've been looking round this afternoon for an Eco 7 tariff with the lowest off-peak rate. So far, Utility Warehouse is top of the list at just over £0.05. We don't have an EV, so we can't sign up to many of the EV focussed tariffs. Also we need the certainty of at least 6 hours continuous off-peak usage to reheat our…

CNG threatening letters 😕
Hello, we have been told via email that we have a (near) £1,000 bill to pay to CnG from around five years ago. The broker person who always emails us with deals etc told us (about two years ago?) to ignore them as they were going out of business. I’m now guessing that advice was bad. We have this email (no letters in the…

Overdue energy bill letter with scam phone number that Octopus says is not a scam!
On Saturday morning I received a letter through my door from Flint Bishop Solicitors. It was for an overdue energy bill from Octopus Energy for £455.83. It has an account number on it which I didn't recognise. I immediately assumed it was a scam. The telephone number given was 0330 123 9024. The letter was official and…

Economy 7 and Octopus Agile
Can anyone help here cos I'm confused. I'm an Octopus customer and I've just seen the Agile account. Is it worth me swapping to the Agile account as I'm on economy 7. All my storage heaters and water start storing from around 00.30 for 7 hours.

Warm Home Discount
Hi, I am eligible for the warm home discount and have got it last few years. However my fixed tariff came to an end beginning of the month and I switched provider on the 4th October. What will happen to the warm home discount. Will I still get it? And if so will it go to the old provider or the new? Both are part of the…

EDF changing direct debit
Hi all, Yesterday i got my second edf bill, and today they sent me an email stating they are changing my direct debit from £120 a month to £198 a month! They are saying because my consumption is higher than what they expected. I have a fixed tariff plan with them. My first bill was showing £46 consumption and my second…

Scottish Power Customer Service
SP customer service is just awful! Not sure if all energy suppliers are the same but impossible to get through by phone; email replies take over two weeks, are automated and do not answer questions raised; chat bot does not work; X messages are not responded to. Has anyone found the best way of contacting them?

Fix or Not, same unit price and standing charge Eon.
I'm with Eon's Next Pledge Tracker 12m v4 and the cheapest fix they have has the same standing charge and unit price as my current tariff. Is it worthwhile switching to it as I pay by variable direct debit so my bill varies from month to month?

What is the best advice for closing your windows?
The windows in our flat are currently locked open - about 1cm. We don't want a nasty cold breeze but we do appreciate fresh air with more oxygen.I estimate we'll need to put the heating on once we're into November. What do people do to get the best balance between fresh air and energy efficiency?

All electric-flat bills increase in winter
Hi, I moved into an all-electric flat in July, where I manage the bills, after living in 'bills included' tenancies for some years. It's a 2 bedroom and I share it with one other person. I have no clue what our bills will be like this winter and I want to have some idea so I can budget. Between mid July and today our bill…

Octopus - new tariff and manual meter readings?
Currently, Octopus sends a monthly reminder email to submit meter readings around the 10th of the month. I submit mine manually around the 20th of the month. I've noticed if signing up for a new tariff, it says you have to submit monthly readings via a link they'll send via an email. Does anyone know if you need to use…

Faulty Octopus smart meters. No electricity bills
Hi All. Forgive if there's a thread already. Long story short. I've had a Dsar back from Octopus regarding 10 months or more of no billing for my electricity, after new smart meter fitting after a faulty one. After constantly emailing and continously paying my dd, the account crept to £1100 in 'credit' I was worried about…

Are there any energy companies that are supplying 'non-smart' meters
Hi, Has anyone had any (recent) success with having a new 'non-smart' electricity meter fitted? Any recommended energy companies that DEFINITELY offer this?

Sharing the standing charge
When an employer/landlord takes electricity from their tenants property to provide power for outside events, cafe etc. Is it reasonable to expect said landlord to pay at least half of the standing charge? Is this even legal?

Changing providers/tarriffs, over the phone or website clicks?
I've just moved into a new property, the previous owners were on octopus energy, but the actual tarriff numbers don't seem to be all that good (67p/day standing charge, 24.07/kWh), which makes me guess that they hadn't checked on their rate recently. or their tarriff was suitable for them, but not for me. I've done some…

Crossed electricity meter issue still not resolved after six months. Is this normal?
In mid May this year, I reported an issue with my electricity meter to my electricity supplier as the meter readings on my bill were consistently about 50% higher than on my smart meter I was actually using. After a few phone calls, emails and undertaking a load test it came apparent that I had a crossed meter issue. They…

So... how did Martin do tonight?
One for those watching the Martin Lewis show... first part on Energy bills. Personally I think he made a decent fist of trying to explain that fixed tariffs don't mean fixed bills, which seems to be a perpetual source of confusion for many average punters. Wondering if I'm in a minority, but anyone trying to explain…

Smart meter not registered - any advice?
I moved into a new build property 6 years ago which had SMETS1 meters installed. We lost the smart functionality immediately as we switched suppliers, however the electricity meter regained smart functions a couple of years ago, which I now know was due to the upgrade. I have asked our supplier why the gas one isn't…

Management company's utility bill admin fees
This topic was raised then closed back in 2011 but management companies are back adding expensive "admin fees" to utility bills. In my case the management company charges £9.20 every month to produce a monthly gas bill. I have requested a quarterly bill only to be told "no". I am not permitted to setup a contract directly…
