Severn Trent 2025 price rises

in Water bills
I have been informed that ST have increased prices for water at about 23% however I have also been told that for those with water meters the price hike is about 42% which I find totally unacceptable as this is supposed to be a fairer way of charging for water used and it seems that ST want to equalise meter billing with the rateable billing. Can anyone clarify if this is correct

My Severn Trent DD ( I'm on a meter ) has increased from £24.70 a month to £31 month which is roughly 25%1

Ditto my ST is on a meter - from £30 to £42. (£144 a year) I think that's good value for money - all your fresh water on tap and the waster disposed of for £1.50 a day
My next door is unmetered - from £60 to £74 (£168 a year)
I know which bill I'd rather have.
The difference between meter/unmetered will continue to narrow as more and more properties get metered and ST still needs to meet its budgets.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -

My ST water metered charges have also risen by 43% which is immorally enormous. It seems we are paying for the unmetered households who use massive amounts of water to refresh their Jacuzzis, swimming pools and topping up their fish ponds. Because, lord help us, my latest bill was a £13.35 in debit they upped the month payment by 52%!!! It is also of note in my case that Severn Trent provide the fresh water while Yorkshire Water charge for the wastewater.
Being a very mindful metered water user my garden plants, greenhouse and WC are watered with rainwater collected via 9 large water barrels filled from the roofs of my house and shed and throughout the long dry periods they have never reached empty.
I am astounded at the callousness of these price hikes.

In order to keep water bills down we've spent years not paying enough to upgrade the infrastructure, parts of which date back to Victorian times. That's now come back to bite us and bills have had to go up so the infrastructure can be maintained / expanded / modernised.1

This may be true, however the same argument was made 20 or so years ago, a number of years after privatisation. The huge increases then were sold was a temporary measure to put the infrastructure back where it need to be. Since then we have 5 million more households yet seemingly little investment in new reservoirs to cope with this.My Seven Trent supply bill is up from 181p to 260p per m3 a 44% increase. Apparently they say they haven’t put up waste water much, but I pay United Utilities for my waste waster that has gone up by 36% so screwed all around.1
