Faulty Octopus smart meters. No electricity bills

Hi All.
Forgive if there's a thread already. Long story short.
I've had a Dsar back from Octopus regarding 10 months or more of no billing for my electricity, after new smart meter fitting after a faulty one.
After constantly emailing and continously paying my dd, the account crept to £1100 in 'credit' I was worried about the actual amount I would owe. and after their rectification they took it all and I still owe £800. If I do then so be it, but all in the process of two meters installed? How accurate is it.
I asked for the proof , job logs , exact times of reading etc. I noticed on my account notes this -
"THERE IS NO VALUE TO BE WRITTEN OFF:PAYMENTS DURING THE WRITE- OFF PERIOD COVER THE AMOUNT THAT WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE BEEN WRITTEN OFF. "
Can anyone explain what this means?
Much appreciated if you can.

Much appreciated if you can.The back-billing rules limit the period that you can be billed for if you have not received an accurate bill. However payments made during any period that would otherwise have qualified for being written off can be used to cover those charges, so if you are paying each month then the amount you paid can be applied to cover the energy you used, and it is not therefore written off.

How is this so say £800 derived? Have meter readings been used to calculate the bill, or are they making estimates of usage during the faulty meter period? If it's estimates, are they in accord with the usage you would have expected, if not, challenge it with any evidence you can to support your point.0
