How to live without heating - save £000s
I am sorry to read Martin Lewis say he fears people will die because a lot of people cannot afford heating. I agree but regard it as sad. The Government, Councils, charities and other public bodies could do a lot more to advise people on what to wear so many of those people should be able to stay perfectly warm without any…

BG seems to have altered my meter record, and is now trying to bill me a lot
I was wondering if anyone had experience of British Gas deleting their existing meter record, and replacing it with another. It appears they are trying to create an appearance that I have been assigned a specific meter, with serial code. However, it does not match my bills. The serial number of my neighbor is clearly…

Choosing a New Tariff, some price inconsistencies
Hello, My EDF fixed tariff is coming to an end. They are offering me money to switch to one of their tariffs but their stated average price is lower than that in CheapEnergyClub, despite the annual consumption being the same. I checked Uswitch and their price is simlar to that of CEC. Why the difference? Judging by…

Small Claims Court advice
Hi, I've had a dispute with British Gas for years now and want to start preparing materials for a court claim. I'm not 100% sure where to start though! The amount is fairly small (~1k), but it's been years of deep stress and repeated poor customer service (and lies) from BG. What approach should I take? Thanks!

Frustrations with OVO and refunds
Hi all. Having a massive frustration with OVO. Long story short, was going to switch to a new fix with them, cancelled after one day due to a better offer from current provider. Called OVO to cancel, was assured everything was cancelled. Lo and behold, direct debit wasn't, but the account was. They now want to issue refund…

Octopus Snug and Switching Problem
I switched to Octopus Snug in September last year and since then have been unable to obtain Economy 7 quotes, all the comparison websites think I'm on a normal tariff. I did speak to someone at Octopus about this a while ago but just got "it wouldn't be us" which was very helpful!! Just wondered if anyone else had…

Bit confused about fixes and EV Tariffs (Octopus)
Got a quick one to check, hopefully is simple… I’m with Octopus and gas is fixed to Dec 2026, however my electric tariff is IOG which I think is variable. I can’t see a fix EV tariff on Octopus; is it possible to get this type fixed or am I stuck on the variable?

Solar Export tarriff makes my EDF standard account unuseable
Having solar panles and an export seg, Keeping control of my normal electric and gas tarriff is a night mare with EDF, as they seem to have dumped my export readings into my main accout. This has caused me lots of problems, unable to change tarriffs on line, unable to book a smart metter install on line. Then add in I live…

Crossed Meter - British Gas not helping.
Hello, I have been dealing with a crossed meter situation since last year. After multiple conversations with British Gas that were very unhelpful, I opened an ombudsman case. During the case, BG sent an engineer out who identified the correct meter…let's call this meter A. They identified meter B, the meter I have been…

We have recently moved house to a property that was supplied by British Gas (BG). Immediately upon moving in we took photos of the meter readings, submitted them to BG and then started the switch to Outfox Energy (OFE) It appeared that everything was going to plan with the switch to OFE taking place 7 days after we moved…

Smart Meters
Hello allI recently emailed Octopus Energy as they said I didn't need to send meter readings as I have smart meters. I told them that I'd asked for the 'smart element' to be disabled & asked how I could achieve this. Below is the reply I received. Are they correct? Many thanks in anticipation of replies. I understand that…
