Small Claims Court advice

Hi, I've had a dispute with British Gas for years now and want to start preparing materials for a court claim.

I'm not 100% sure where to start though! The amount is fairly small (~1k), but it's been years of deep stress and repeated poor customer service (and lies) from BG. What approach should I take?

Thanks!

I deleted my comment as with thanks to QrizB I remember now, and my comment was irrelevant.

Just keep all emotion out of it, keep things factual and on point with clear dates and times pertinent to your claim.

Be clear how much you want and state your case.

Get a friend to read through it to make sure it makes sense to them

Outline the facts, keep it short and to the point.

Thanks. I'll start drafting something succinct. Should I compile all my documentation as evidence: I have a lot (I have the smart meter data and various spreadsheets and a lot of screengrabs). Or trim it down to some specific highlighted documents? And should I mention the Ombudsman ruling? The chats with BG staff in which they gaslight me?

Apologies for the, likely, stupid questions! I just want them to accept they handled things appallingly and that the erroneous charge was just that (I now have three years of usage showing it was very much out of my pattern of usage).

I would submit any evidence that you have.

But keep the court documents clear and concise and factual. Submit the other evidence as appendices.
