Octopus Fixed Tariffs 2026

I made the jump and signed up for Outfox Energy two weeks ago New Year Fix 2026 v1.0 which worked out at £2,131 per year with my estimated usage. Just had a look at cheap energy club and the cheapest fix today for our usage is Outfox Energy Fix'd dual Jan26 12M v3.0 and is £7 per year more expensive.
Just compared with Octopus 12M fixed January 2026 v1 and the yearly cost would be £284 per year more expensive than my current fix.
I am hopeful that by signing for the fixed deal I will still get the rebate from the government budget from April'26. If this works out as per MSE latest info I should get a rebate of £224 on my usage next year.
I have looked at EDF and British Gas energy cost forecasts and over the last 3 weeks they have gone up each week blaming wholesale cost increases. Maybe there is a trend for cost increases?
Last year I was on a fixed rate with Octopus and they were really good - especially the feature where I could download my smart meter data. However not so good that I wanted to pay an additional £284 per year (£24 per month) for my energy.

Aye for me too, and it didn't hang around long.

I'm mighty glad I ditched and switched away from Octopus.
Currently saving about 10% compared to Octopus Nov 2025 v3
Newbies in my position could still save about 5% compared to Octopus Nov 2025 v3 if they ditched and switched today!
YMMV - but always worth checking.
Whilst Octopus are putting their prices up, at least one other supplier are introducing cheaper tariffs (in fact they just introduced a new 15m tariff that is almost as cheap as the tariff I previously secured)

They have not updated any of their TOU tariffs, which could do with lower s/c, especially Agile, the new tariff is not very inspiring.

It is odd that Octopus 12M Fixed January 2026 v1 is so much more expensive than their Octopus 12M Fixed November 2025 v3 tariff. Especially when Martin Lewis is saying that electricity tariffs are set to get cheaper.
Thought Octopus were supposed to be the good guys?

Fixed tariffs are based on forward pricing. What Martin says about prices getting cheaper relates to the pants cap, and that is based on historical pricing.
Also, there's the recent budget announcement that should reduce the prices for all, including those on fixed price contracts, in April. I think the pants cap forecasters have built that into forecasts.
Maybe Octopus have priced this latest tariff high to allow for the reduction they will be expected to apply in April

Octopus 12M Fixed February 2026 v1
Perhaps a little better for some, electric is down. Doesn't trump Nov V3.

I wonder if there will be a cut off date to have signed up for a fix in order to get the reduction from April 1st? Will it be possibly to sign up for a 12m fix on March 31st and then have it reduce from April 1st?
