    This proves what I said.

Most of the fixes have massive exit fees which would not cover any savings by switching.

They aren't exit fees but early exit fees - i.e. apply only if leaving the new supplier before 49 days before 12 months, and may not apply if switching internally. Lately there seems consistency in Octopus not being the cheapest compared with Fuse and Outfox for example - especially for electricity - so it's a real saving vs. a potential early exit fee. Octopus don't seem to be the best for regular reduced price electricity sessions ether.

It's natural for some to prefer to stay put, whether it's for energy or anything else with different suppliers available, with something given as justification, whereas others just go ahead and switch.

Customer service is often judged when something goes wrong. Things can be working well, and then after a tariff change of a single energy - by phone as online methods haven't worked for a while now - variable billing reverted to fixed, and then a monthly bill only included one of two energies. Further calls to resolve didn't give much confidence that agents were able to fix any underlying problems - just re-issue current bills etc.

Perhaps the discussion of the merits of having or not having annual exit fee should move to gpman's "EDF Fixed Tariffs 2026" thread?

If Elec goes up by November with nothing in between to jump to, just the Electric could be worth moving - extends the term for another 3 months ish. But it’s a gamble with an outside chance of coming off at this point - adding over half a pence a day to the SC to save 0.01p per unit.

    I'd prefer it wasn't.

None of the posts made by those attempting to discuss the merits of having or not having annual exit fees appear to even mention EDF

Electricity in the 27's starts to look like a return to scary territory.
