Radiators for a heat pump?
I’d really appreciate some info & tips on how to cope with radiator upgrades for an ASHP. I can cope with a box outside the house, I can cope with finding a place for a water cylinder, I can cope with a large financial outlay (incentives help.) What I am really struggling with is having to accept monstrous upscaled…

Octopus Tracker tariff
I did a discussion a couple of months ago whether Octopus’s Tracker tariff was a good bet for winter. I chickened out, and went back on a fixed tariff. I’ve been keeping an eye on the figures, and it looks like I made the correct decision by switching. Rates are going through the roof at the moment. Any thoughts anyone?

Look after my bills defaulted me to higher tariff
look after my bills defaulted my energy bill to eon who put me on the most expensive tariff. They are now uncontactable and Eon are saying it’s my fault for not choosing a cheaper tariff when that was the only tariff available at the time. They then moved me to a higher tariff without my consent.

Energy supplier that will change SMETS2 meter?
I have had smart meters installed since 2019 and the gas meter is working fine and sending reads automatically, the electricity meter has never worked and is non communicating so won't send reads. I can read the meter reading off the display so EDF have said they will not change a functioning SMETS2 meter just because it's…

Octopus direct debit guarantee.
Hi, Octopus are now demanding far too much money per month as a direct debit so I asked them to change me to the variable DD so I only pay what the monthly bill is, however they ignored this and tried to take a large payment again this month so I cancelled the DD before they had a chance. I then received an email regarding…

Utility company suddenly charging for pipe damage from months ago
Almost 4 months ago, myself and my father were digging in the front garden of my house when we accidently damaged a shallow gas pipe. We were not aware the pipe was located so close to the surface. Workers from a utility company were called out to fix it. We were given the impression that we would not be charged for this…

Octopus Energy - Night Rate not matching storage heater switch on
I have just been checking my energy usage and have noted that Octopus Energy night rate is not switching at the same time as my storage heaters and immersion heater turn on. I am effectively being charged to heat at the day rate. I cannot change the time these appliances turn on as they are fixed to the night rate meter. I…

Large Octopus Energy bill after receiving no bill for over a year
Hi, As the title suggests, I've received a large energy bill after receiving no updates from Octopus for over a year. I had the same problem with them last year after not receiving any updates and queried it to receive another large bill we were blissfully unaware of. We were told to alter our direct debit to pay off the…

Octopus refund issue.
Hi, short story, I am with octopus energy for gas and electricity, they set the direct debit amount to £309 a month and when i looked at my app, it said I am in credit of £2800. So I requested a refund, first they wanted an upto date meter reading, which I found bizarre as I have a smart meter, but I gave them a reading,…

Bright app new features
Looking at my bright app today to answer a question in another thread I noticed that it now shows export data. I don*t use the app daily etc but I was gobsmacked to see that has been added, or perhaps I should go to specsavers.

Does Octopus offer variable direct debit?
Question is in the subject - does Octopus offer this? Hopefully I'm using the correct terminology but what I mean is that each month, my full invoice amount will be debited rather than an estimated yearly usage divided by 12?

154% increase in electric bill. Normal?
Hello, all, So, my situation is I rent a house which has an electricity sub-meter, and the main meter is in a nearby building. I provide a reading to my landlord, and he takes the main meters reading and produces a bill. We do the bill every sixteen months, and this latest one has a 154% increase on the last one, despite…

Trying to work out electric usage for solar install
Hi all Just trying to work out my electric usage for a solar install. Smart meter gives these readings per week for the last 5 weeks: 72.12 79.01 77.12 98.20 70.26 I guess this means the average per week is 79.34 or 11.33 a day, is that correct? In that case, I'd need a battery that's 11kwh or bigger, correct? Thanks

20.01.25 Hello, Just a quick question please. After an energy supplier switch to Eon. I did not agree with the migrated account £360 debit balance and raised a dispute with Scottish Power (the old supplier), as advised by Eon. Once the dispute had been investigated by the old supplier (SP), they concluded the migration…

Changing Supplier - Import and Export
Hi, I'm looking for experience from people who've moved their metered export at the same time as they changed supply. For example moving from Octopus to EON. How much hassle getting export set up with the new supplier, and what sort of timescale? I'm leaving it late as I'm hoping the solar panels will wake up in the next…
