ECO4 application - difficulty getting evidence
We currently have a very old gas boiler (40+ years) which needs replacing as it doesn't meet current gas regs and the heating system keeps malfunctioning. I've been advised to apply for ECO4 as I'm disabled (a wheelchair user) and have limited mobility. We don't qualify under the income criteria (our household income is…

British Gas Homecare
Hi everyone, I am new here. British Gas have got me questioning my sanity. I have taken out Homecare cover with them but cannot for the life of me figure out how to access this. They advise me to login, but when I do, it just takes me to my normal gas and electricity account, and within there, there is no option to access…

Is EDF energy hub down?
Is EDF energy hub down? We switched to EDF EV tariff from Oct 1 and now I notice the energy hub is down. Or is it just me? I also notice that my quote for off peak unit was 11.65p, but my new tariff says 13.77p

British Gas Smart Meter convincing scam
Hi, I like to think I can spot a scam as I am overly suspicious about everything but I (almost) fell for this one purporting to be from British Gas. It's probably not a new scam but worth repeating. I was contacted by British Gas on the same text thread that they send me every few months asking me for my meter readings…

Hard check by Eon when leaving...
Hi all, please could anyone advise/explain... My partner has switched energy providers recently - he's gone from Eon to Ovo. On the date of the switch, Eon performed a hard search on his credit report. Why would they do this as he's leaving the company? Ovo, however, have not performed a hard search. I'm baffled. It's…

Wrong address on energy websites
I've been through the process of getting two addresses corrected through the energy ombudsman on ecoes and xoserve that was caused by British Gas using the wrong addreses. British Gas Economy 7 offers fixed for 12 months
Can anyone help in suggesting where I can find old BG electricity offers. On 23rd February BG offered an economy 7 fixed tariff to May 2024. I made a written note but now can't trace anything about this offer on their web site. When talking to BG agents they can't or won't look for it. Apparently BG don't archive offers.…

Where to buy a new boiler?
My elderly mother's boiler has finally given in. Its over fifteen years old and has had some issues anyway, so I am trying to work out how to buy a boiler at what is now short notice. She owns a small two-bedroom bungalow and basically just needs something to keep her warm for a few more years with gas central heating. The…

MCS certificates for Solar
MCS certificates are not a legal requirement and Octopus terms and conditions say you don't need one. But here is where it gets tricky. If like me you were unaware of MCS certificates, got a local company to install solar panels and a 10kw battery and were then told by your energy supplier that you need an MCS, what do you…

Reading the Meter
I reluctantly had a smart meter fitted a couple of years ago and it seems to work, never used the display unit, it was put in a drawer. The reason I had the meter changed was that the electricity meter is nigh on impossible to read, even when the tonne of rubbish I have stored in the cupboard is removed and I thought it…
