    Agreed.

    It is useful to see which suppliers do them though, and to easily compare if you're being offered virtually identical tariffs.  I only knew of two before reading the guide.

    Please can MSE confirm how referral awards/credits should be treated for tax purposes - are they taxable?  Do they need to be included on a self assessment form?

    I am not an accountant or tax lawyer, but export payments for solar are taxable, if they exceed your £1000 "side hustle" allowance. I imagine referral rewards would be treated the same way.

    I'm not so sure about that.  I read it that domestic FiT payments for an individual are not taxable.
