Gas v Electricity costs, Octopus moved from Shell
Hi, I've recently been ported over to Octopus from Shell and am currently on their "flexible octopus" tariff. The rates charges are: Unit Rate - Electricity 25.29 kWh, Gas 5.97kWh. Standing Charge - Electricity 54.83p/day, Gas 28.88p/day. I have a non-condensing boiler, so say 75% efficient, which pushes up actual gas cost…

New storage heaters on 3-phase supply
Looking to replace old storage heaters in new house. House is on 3-phase supply and has a SMETS2 meter. Been looking at Dimplex Quantum and Creda TSRE, but both say unsuitable for use on a 3-Phase supply. Are there modern HHR storage heaters suitable for use on a 3-Phase supply?

Very pushy replacement energy meter calls
Hi all, I wanted to post about a friend's experience with a VERY pushy and rude call about a replacement energy meter. My friend rents, and has both Gas and Electric. She had a call from someone claiming to represent her power company and, seconds into the call they're demanding personal details from her and telling her…

Scottish Power and SEG
About a month and a half ago, I applied to Scottish Power for SEG for my solar panels. And since then, I have heard nothing. Any follow up emails have disappeared into the void. I have contacted Scottish Power via their Chatbot only to be told to contact them directly using the same email address. Does anyone have any tips…

RTS Switch Off Meter Query
Hi folks, Having scoured the forums and associated links on this topic, I'm at a loss as to whether my electric meter is an RTS one. I have an Actaris ACE9000 KBD prepayment meter on Economy 7. It's an SSE owned meter, although I am now with Octopus. It's got a date of 2007 on it, but there doesn't seem to be a large black…

British Gas: Ain't received my warm home discount?
Hi, wonder if you can help.... I received a letter in October 2023 saying that i will receive £150 warm home discount by the 31 of March 2024. British Gas - Pay your incorrect bill or get a black mark on your credit record!
Dual bill, gas correct electricity estimate wrong - there was a number after a decimal point, which my meter doesn't have (ignoring correct reading submitted on time). I paid the gas part of the bill and asked for a corrected electricity bill. Months later (I had transferred to UW) still no corrected bill, still showing…

British Gas lump sum payment after closing account
I'm a student awaiting graduation and just closed my British Gas account as I've moved back home with my parents. I've been told that I have to pay the outstanding balance on my account (£577) in full and can't continue my direct debit as I had before. Another option is a repayment plan, but they've said that will look bad…

British Gas - backdated bill
My parents did not receive a bill from British Gas for 12 months even though they continually requested one. They have now received a bill (after 12 months) for over £3,000. Is it true that you don't have to pay a British Gas bill if you haven't had a bill for 12 months?

Can I be forced to have a smart meter?
Hi, I'm new here so please forgive any faux pas... but here goes. We have solar panels on the roof, which don't make us a huge amount of money; but they make us more than they would otherwise because we have an old analog meter which actually rolls backwards while the panels are generating juice. Obviously we'd like to…

Hi, Wondered if anyone has any advice. Took out a tenancy last July and was advised a specific broker was our energy company - I'd never heard of this broker before and upon searching there's very little info online. Storage heaters & Economy 7 concerns - advice needed
My mum has just bought a flat in a complex for the over 60s. For various reasons it was quite a rushed process and perhaps we made a couple of errors of judgment, but that's done now and what we need are solutions for the situation she is in. She has not yet moved in. The block of flats is electric only, so no gas, and…

Had an email from EDF saying that I owe them £230 from a previous debt to utility point when they took over the account 2 years ago. ive battled back and forth via email saying it is not my responsibility and once I threatened to report to Ofgem they suggested to waive the debt entirely as long as I don’t report it to…

EDF and GNE (remember them?) and bill from 2021
I was with GNE when they ceased trading and was moved over to EDF and almost immediately to EON. Took a while but received Final bill and EDF/GNE in 2021 with a cheque. Saturday morning I receive an email from EDF stating that I have an overdue bill with them of £254. Can't speak to anyone over the weekend but now they are…
