in Heat pumps
I've just come across a superb YouTube video in which a guy called Michael de Podesta provides a fabulous overview of heat pumps, including how they work, the importance of heat loss and radiator size, choosing an installer, and the carbon savings from using a heat pump. For anyone who is just starting to wonder about a heat pump, it would be a brilliant way to make a big jump up the learning curve. I wish I had found it when I first started looking into this.

It is from a year ago, so is still talking about a £5k BUS grant, but otherwise it is still relevant. My only quibbles/additional comments would be:
1. It suggests the heat pump needs to be sited 1 metre away from neighbours and windows. To get planning permission, it is almost certainly going to need to be further from neighbours than that.
2. It does not mention that there is a widespread view that low loss headers can make a system less efficient.
3. If installation cost is the key factor, then Octopus are going to be far cheaper than the figures he mentions.
