British Gas: Ain't received my warm home discount?

Hi, wonder if you can help....

I received a letter in October 2023 saying that i will receive £150 warm home discount by the 31 of March 2024.

On the letter it said i don't have to do anything as it will automatically be done by my energy supplier.

I phoned British Gas as nothing on my payment history shows anything related to a warm home discount and they said to contact the Warm Home Discount scheme.

I phoned both 0800-030-9322 & 0800-030-9323 and it's a automated line saying the Warm Home Discount is now closed.

Any idea who i can contact regarding this?

All the best

Jay

Another person posted recently saying their British Gas bill showed it as a discount on the energy charge rather than a separate credit as it normally would.  Maybe check to see if that's happened for you as well?

I did check for that so did British Gas and they said there is no record of any warm home discount applied to my account.

    Ah.

Were you with British Gas last August?  If you've changed supplier between the qualifying date and now then it would be the old supplier's responsibility to pay you.

Beyond that I have no idea, sorry.

Perhaps they are all busy counting the £8.2M salary of the CEO?  Or the £75M profit they made last year?

Think I remember that "phone lines closed" from last year. People were staying on the line after the message and the call was eventually answered, for a month or so after the scheme closed. Could be the same this year?

Same thing here, it never showed as going into my account at any point until the latest bill was done, so it looks like that is how they are doing them this year. Get the feeling that it could be their way of not allowing people to claim it back before you get billed perhaps.

Might be worth asking them to do a latest bill (you'll need to give them an up to date meter reading for that) for you to see if does show up that way @JayKay70

Oh fantastic, glad it got sorted and thanks for coming back to update as we will know for sure if someone else asks about it too.

Yeah, I don't know why it's changed. I was moved over to the new style of billing last summer, but wasn't eligible for WHD last year, so can't say for sure which of those reasons has caused them to change the way they administer it now. But I mostly feel that they are doing it so you can't try and do a claim for overpayment on your account until after a new bill is done, that way they can keep your account in check more lol.
