Silly question regarding how to use TV
Hi everyone, Excuse me for stupid question but it has been a while since I had a proper TV. In the old days I used to have a Sky box to go along with the tv but that was 10-15 years ago. I've just bought a TV and I was wondering what different ways can I watch channels on it. Can someone lay out the different options I…

Sony won't honour warranty as I haven't got receipt
My tv is still within its warranty and has broke, but Sony have said they aren't touching it without proof of purchase. I think this is wrong and I believe I'm within my rights still to have it repaired or changed if it cant be repaired. I should add that the issue is a well known issue to Sony also. Any advice would be…

Apple Trade-In Scam
Does anyone else feel ripped off by the Apple trade-in process? I recently purchased an iPhone 12 mini in full partly driven by the trade-in offer - my phone wasn’t perfect and explained that but wasn’t given the opp to input the details - it did however spit out an offer of £225. I went ahead with the order and surprise…

Why do Openreach "engineers" get away with lying so much?
I recently got caught out by a lying Openreach "engineer". I was supposed to be having FTTP finally installed this week - 4 months after ordering it thanks to COVID. As I had waited so long i made sure that I was home - my chair downstairs is next to the window so I cn see if anybody pulls up outside and comes up our…

Ethernet v Wi-Fi.
I'm thinking about replacing my Lenovo laptop, which I've had a number of years. Previously, I possessed a Dell. The thing both had in common was that I connected them to the internet via an Ethernet cable. I would very much like to buy another Lenovo model, because I've mostly found the brand to be excellent. However,…

Scam number racked up £200 on phone bill
So I turned on tv to find all my services have been suspended as I’ve gone over credit cap. On checking I see a 09040121682 number x3 calls amounting to £200. When I dial the number it does not exist ie a dead tone. Worked out my son googled for a DVLA number and this must have been it. I know it’s a scam is there anyway…

Cancelling Part of a SKY Broadband and Talk Service?
Hi All, Before I spend ages on hold tomorrow with SKY to find out I can't I thought I would ask a question to see if it would be worth it. I have Sky Digital - Broadband and Talk (no mobile or TV), still under a contract. I have looked on the website and on MySKY account but can not see anything as they don't make it easy.…

LOWELL / Vodafone
I started to receive letters from Lowell back in August last year. From memory I cannot remember receiving any letters or documents until then. It turns out, it is for a Vodaphone account I never had. Ironically, I’ve been with Vodaphone for 13 years and have never changed my account. On top of that, they put a CCJ against…

Cancel Virgin before booking Sky?
Hi, I'm currently out of contract with Virgin and due to have a big increase in June. I want to move to Sky but I want to use Quidco as there's excellent cashback. My query is, should I cancel Virgin before booking Sky or the other way around? I don't really want to have to pay both providers at once and if Sky install…

Landline changes from Sky to Post Office over £100 per month (yes, that's right)
In a bid to tidy up my MIL's finances I changed her phone line from Sky £25 pm to Post Office £15 pm. The first bill of £150 for the month came in and I had unknowingly not purchased a package deal. I accept this is a stupid error on my part and contacted them to ask for advice - of course they won't refund or credit the…

Catch 22?
Virginmedia disconnected me without notice, even when I had just paid them. The mistake was made by them. I asked for the normal compensation for loss of service but they refused as they said that as I was not being charged for the missing days I had no claim. Does this mean that if they do not charge for any missing…

Sky won't let me cancel
Hi everybody, looking for some advice... I'm currently with Virgin for broadband and Sky for TV. However, I negotiated a better broadband deal with Virgin recently and wanted to take a full bundle with them, as they were offering me a much better TV deal than I'm on or likely to be on with Sky. So I went on a live chat…

Breaking free from Virgin
So, I followed the advice and [attempted] to break free from a Virgin broadband/telephone service and switch to BT. I was out of contract and ditching the way more expensive service made perfect sense. All I had to do was telephone Virgin so I sat with a glass of pop one evening and waited over an hour and twenty minutes…

Virgin chasing payment but I can't pass security check
Hi, Back in May 2020 I relocated due to covid. I contacted Virgin Media (broadband), settled my account balance including early termination fee. Now nearly a year later, I've had a debt collection email from BPO on behalf of Virgin. I spoke to Virgin who said they can't help me as I can't remember my password to pass the…
