My mum is 88 and lives 85 miles awayShe has WiFi but can't navigate TV outside typing in channel numbers.I'm wondering whether there is any facility yet so you can operate a TV remotely over the internet to operate things like Netflix, Amazon video, etc. Obviously you would need video feedback so you can see what's…

Changing broadband/TV supplier
My broadband / TV contract is coming to its end. I've been with Virgin Media since before it was Virgin (that is, Redeffusion, CableTel, NTL and now Virgin), but as usual I'm looking to see if a better deal is available. Sky looks interesting for £48/m; as a new Virgin customer I can beat that slightly, but getting that…

UHD - lots of hype but missing some truths?
I have just purchased a new LG OLED 4k TV to add to my BOSE sound system and my EE TV package. Being keen to see some programmes in UHD, I checked out the listings on iPlayer and Amazon Prime and expected to find ‘UHD’ in the corner of the programme information. Much to my surprise, I couldn’t see either ‘UHD’ or ‘4k’ - so…

Hi all I read an article in DM yesterday where Boris Johnson said he is not going to pay his TV licence (I have no interest in why - something political!) Anyway, it got me thinking. Backdated TV licence refunds for over 75's
I was unaware of the free TV linces for over 75's and am now 78. They are refusing to backdate 3 years worth of overpayment. Only the few months worth of this year when I applied.. When I suggested going to small claims, the answer was we will fully defend it and you will be liable for full costs. I was also informed that…

Sky advice for parents- please help!
My parents are getting old and at the stage where they believe everything a salesperson tells them. Monthly TV licence
I’d like to flag what looks like a regressive and misleading structure in the TV Licence payment options, especially for people who pay monthly because they can’t afford the upfront cost. Key points: The annual licence is £174.50 if paid in full. The monthly direct debit plan is heavily front-loaded. In the first 12 months,…

Sky Package Deal - Great saving but still not excited...
I'm going to get berated for this (and rightly so) but I was recently going through my monthly bills and shockingly realised I'd let my Sky Package contract slip (life got insanely busy) and I had been paying an eye watering £167per month for my TV, Broadband and landline. After getting straight on the phone with them and…

Will my BT box work if I cancel my TV subscription?
I have a BT branded Humax dtr-t2100 recording box but I no longer want to pay £20/month for channels I don't want. Will the box still work as a recorder and viewer with apps if I cancel my TV package. I don't mind paying to keep the box but only if it will still function in the same way. Tried BT forum but couldn't get a…

TNT Sports...
A big cricket fan - unfortunately for the last few years Sky has let us down with coverage of England's overseas tours and I've muddled through with radio commentary. As a canny shopper I don't have a Sky subscription. I access their cricket coverage in the summer via Now TV, which is around £20 per month if you sign up…

Humax Aura PVR problems?
The otherwise excellent Humax Aura PVR is notoriously buggy, the most common of which is probably the frequent unprompted rebooting. I’m now finding that it won’t record anything but BBC on SD channels - though that doesn’t seem to be the case with HD. Anyone else noticed this? Started a few days ago.
