You can stop at 75 I believe if you are in receipt of pension credits.
Or you can stop right now if you don't watch live TV or use BBC iPlayer. Some people stop anyway because they don't want to pay. Not that I'm advising that of course but the only way you can be penalised is to admit to them that you are watching live TV etc as there's no way for them to determine this without your assistance.

There are only free licences for those 75 or over who receive pension credits. If you dont claim the benefit you can't get a free licence.

You can get a licence at zero cost if you are over 75 and you (or your partner living at the same address) receive Pension Credit.

You can stop paying the tv licence at any age when you stop watching live tv

what do you watch?
if you watch live TV or use BBC iplayer then you need a licence.
if you watching things like Netflix, Prime, apps like All4, ITVX etc you do not need a licence.
could you change the way you watch TV to still enjoy your preferred choices and do this the correct way.
if so you can sign a declaration of no licence required - they normally then only write to you approx every 2 years to check if your situation has changed.
