Debt consolidation
I have come across a real conundrum. I have several credit cards that are zero interest amounts that mature soon and I wish to clear them by taking out a mortgage on an unencumbered property I own. Interest on a credit card (even though paying off using a direct debit )
Hi, I have a credit card with Halifax. When I originally setup the card a direct debit was setup to pay the amount in full every month. However recently i have seen an INTEREST amount being taken from my card (although a small amount less than £1) I don't understand why I am having to pay any interest, as my direct debit…

Credit cards whose app / website that have passcode (numbers) not password (letters) login
I am shortly going to apply for a new credit card with 0% spending. But I am dyslexic so really struggle with apps / websites where part of the login is to type in the 3rd, 5th, 7th etc letter of your password. I invariably write the password down and then count which letter is which. This kinda defeats the object of the…

Cancelled a service paid by credit card but refund offered to my current account (what protection)
I'll try to make a long story short.. I contacted a very small company just over two weeks ago who provide a service as their product. Their service costs £600 initially and later another £400 for the second part. After an initial free consultation, my daughter paid the first payment over the phone with her Mastercard…

Unexplained transactions on my Halifax Credit Card
I have a Halifax Credit Card used solely for the purposes of balance transfers. I've had it since 2022. I've never used it to purchase anything nor has it ever been linked to any online account or app. It is not a shared card. I keep it in my wallet. On Tue 7 Oct, a £10 transaction came out, appearing to go to "AMAZON",…

New to Airline Reward Points
We're going to start saving points, probably towards upgrading flights to Australia in a few years. We plan to a get the Amex Gold for a year to start us off and then review the perks against second year fee to see if we keep that. We also plan to get the Avios Barclaycard to use where Amex isn't accepted. Looking at MSE…

Possible unauthorized transaction - charity donation
I've just noticed a small £2 card transaction to a charity on my statement. I only made one other transaction that day so I'm wondering if it's one of them where a charity donation has been added on at the point of sale and I've missed it? Just wondering where I stand legally. I did not press anything to add the donation,…

Refunds don’t count towards payments
Hidden in the small print, a refund to your credit card doesn't count as a payment, they still want your monthly payment. I had a refund of £700, which I (stupidly??) thought would count as a payment as it reduced my balance by same amount. I therefore missed my £10 minimum payment assuming they’d already had £700 that…

Lloyds credit card swap
Hey, I've had my generic Lloyds credit card since 2010. I have a perfect payment history and excellent credit score, paying it in full every month, which means I'm not paying interest. I got a notification about the new Lloyds Ultra credit card, which has a decent cashback offer/perks, plus a lower APR. I'm pre-approved,…
