Section 75 for Legacy JL Card
I need to make a section 75 claim for a transaction made on my John Lewis partnership card back in January 2022. I no longer have a John Lewis account but I understand that I can still make a claim despite this. I did some reaerch and found that John Lewis used to use HSBC at that time (they switched to Newday later in…

Lloyds Ultra Credit Card
Just seen that Lloyds have released a new Cashback CC with both no FX and 0.25% cashback. https://www.lloydsbank.com/credit-cards/ultra.html What are people's thoughts in comparison to the Barclaycard Rewards offering that is so often discussed around here?

Should I close some of my 12 credit cards
I have amassed 12 credit cards over the years currently with a £51,600 combined limit, I did have 13 but I closed 1 last year (118118Money). A lot of them are sub-prime as they were applied for when I had a low credit rating (default and CCJ) however I do now have some good cards including Amex (£10k limit), Chase (£15k…

Is the Chase Credit Card Better than Halifax Clarity?
I'm trying to slim down some of the different banks I have accounts with. At the moment, I have a Halifax Clarity credit card, which I use rarely but it's useful when I do use it - most of my spends are on American Express. The primary reason I got it years ago was the fee free spending abroad, although it's also useful…

Balance transfer question.
I have £1700 on one credit card which is a mixture of balance transfers until 2027 and a very small amount of purchases. It has a deal of a balance transfer of 5.9% rate over 30 months with a 0% fee. My other credit card has a zero balance and 0% balance transfer rate with a 3.5% fee until end of 2026. I pay off around…

Barclaycard Credit limit
I use my Barclaycard Rewards Credit card for my spending abroad as it gives me 0.25% cash back as well as being no fee and good for ATM withdrawals. However I have a rather small credit limit. £3000. When I am travelling I often get to my limit before payment day and then have to pay it down to create more room for…

Section 75 claim for defective laptop repairers won't return?
Hi all, I'd like to understand my options and chances of success for an S75 claim for a faulty laptop. I bought this in August 2024 but it was never right, partly because it was not fit for purpose, probably not because of a defect but because of an inherent design issue, and partly because of a number of manufacturing…

UK-drive.com
A relative has recently moved and absolutely believes she changed her address with the DVLA on the official gov.uk website. However, she has now noticed that she is being charged £39 a month via her credit card. We googled the site from the statement reference. She doesn't recognise the website and doesn't have any emails…

New credit card
I recently switched current account from Smile to Lloyds. Partly because Smile’s website is showing its age/becoming glitchy and partly to take advantage of Lloyds £200 switching incentive. I also decided to close my little used, nil balance credit card with Smile, thinking it would be simpler to have one with Lloyds.…

Finally learned my lesson
Hi, I have been in debt since the age of 18. I am 49 now. I am paying off a DMP with 6k left. I have 5 credit cards, all with a 0 balance. I log on every day and it fills me with joy to see a 0 balance. I use them but pay them off in full every month so I never pay any interest. This is my 3rd and final DMP. I'm so happy…

Crediy Card Chargeback - Who is Liable?
An insurance company promised to refund my credit card after I cancelled an insurance policy within the 14 day cooling off. They didn't refund the money. Therefore, I spoke to my CC card company who arranged a chargeback. 4 weeks later the insurance company also refunded the money to my credit card account out of the blue.…

Revolut card question
Hi, I lost my Revolut card today. I've re-ordered another one which won't arrive until around 10th December. I am going on a trip on Tuesday to Germany. The card had £14 on it. I've put a virtual card in my google wallet - will I be able to use the virtual card before I get the physical card? I don't want to top up my…

How do I use my credit card?
Hello all - apologies for the rambling. Having a hard time trying to improve my credit score. I’ve been at 0% utilisation on 2 credit cards for 2 years and my credit score seemingly doesn’t thank me for it. I decided to start trying to use them. 10th November - Spent £1,199 23rd November Statement Date - Paid it in full…

Long standing balances on 2 cards, best time to pay off in full?
I have 2 credit cards with approx £900 on each one. I've always paid the minimum on both each month. I'm now in a position to be able to pay both off in full, should I wait until my January payments are due to pay them off, or pay them off now? Does it/ will it make any difference to interest etc? Regards, Andy

Do I lose S75 rights, if the credit card is paid off and closed/cancelled?
I have an interest free card which is coming to an end (m&s). I made some big purchases on these, car parts for car, a swiss watch etc. I have acquired two new interest free on purchase cards, and managed to move the balance using the stoozing technique onto the new cards (no balance transfer fees here). The original card…

Contactless... limitless
The current limit of £100 can be lifted by the banks, even to unlimited amounts, it appears. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2025/dec/19/uk-contactless-card-limit-of-100-to-be-scrapped-from-19-march The article has also this nugget: "However, despite rising shop prices, a survey done for the FCA found 76% of consumers…

M&S credit card offer ??
Hi everyone, I signed up for the M&S credit card through a MoneySavingExpert offer back in November/early December. I’ve finally received the card, but I’ve completely forgotten the exact details of the signup bonus! Does anyone happen to remember what the MSE-exclusive offer was at that time? My searching skills are…

Amex and payments
I was looking to take out an Amex Gold card and one of the offers is spend £6k in first 6m to get x-amount of Reward points. My question is, if I did a balance transfer of say £1k to pay off some debt from a NatWest credit card using the Amex, would this be classed as a payment and count towards that £6k target? Of course…
