Refund error
A company have given me 2 refunds to my credit card instead of 1. 1 for the correct amount and one for more. They are both pending at the moment. If they both clear I intend to let the company know what they have done.
The issue is the existing debit on my card at the moment is 0% interest which I intend to pay off before the 0% ends. It was a balance transfer deal. When the company take the money back out its going to look like I have spent on the card and that refund taken back will accrue the full interest when I get the statement so I will be out of pocket.
Is there anything I can do so I don’t have to pay interest for their mistake? Does it depend when they actually take the money back out?
edit: it’s a credit card that I already had. I made a transfer from another card into it to pay the money off quicker since the transfer was a 0% deal. I have a balance on it that is 0%. The company are refunding me on the card because I used it when it wasn’t 0% then I cleared the card off. Then I did the balance transfer to it

Why is the company refunding to a card that you have not spent on?
Once both credits have cleared to your card, contact the company and try to pay the incorrect amount back by another payment method.

If you have a balance transfer why would any company refund you?
Or did you mean Purchase interest free card?
In the event that you are changed a quick telephone conversation with your card provider should sort it out.

Sorry if my original post was confusing. Here’s the timeline:
Purchased something on the card but it was on the normal interest rate.
Paid the whole balance off.
Then transferred another cards balance to this card on a 0% transfer deal.
Company then refunds me incorrectly.0 -
Speak to the card company. I would have thought the third party would just cancel the refund transaction, which shouldn't trigger any interest, but your card provider will be able to confirm.

No…. You are opening a real can of worms doing that….

Worse than the worms that are already out?

Much worse, if company realise & reverse one. Leaving OP having to try & get the money back.

Fair enough.
Have I understood OP's card situation correctly - an ordinary spending CC can be converted into a 0% balance transfer card? I thought that such cards were always "new".
