Will Talk Talk refund by reverse direct debt ?

Hello
I've recently moved from TalkTalk to Vodafone for the broadband.
As Talk Talk charge up front, for most of the last month I've paid for I was actually on Vodafone.
From reading other posts I see I should get a credit for this on my next months bill which will be my 'final bill'.
My question is does this automatically come back via the Direct Debit or do I have to go and apply/pester/grovel for it in some other way ?
Because if so I might as well cancel the DD while I think about it, then at least I won't lose any MORE money for stuff I haven't had.
Many Thanks

It wouldn't be a reverse DD (there isn't such a thing). It will reduce the amount the owe on the bill, so reduces the DD.
Don't cancel the DD unless you have a desperate need to pay additional costs and to get negative markers on your credit file.0 -
There's no doubt that when the 'final bill' comes in Talk Talk will end up owing me money.
'Reverse Direct Debit' may be a misleading way of putting it but I've seen it several times where companies say 'don't cancel your Direct Debit or we won't be able to give you your money back'.0 -

Many ThanksAll phone providers charge in advance. Not unique to TalkTalk. If you happen to up sticks and move in the middle of a billing period, that's unfortunate, but its the way it is. You'd get the pro-rata refund up to the change of provider. So if you paid (for argument's sake) £30 on the 1st of April and move to Vodafone on the 16th, you'd get a refund of £14 for your final bill.Re: Payment - The direct debit has nothing to do with it, its just so they have your bank details on record from said direct debit so if its active they know its valid. If worse comes to the worse and they can't pay you into your bank account you'll probably just get a cheque in the mail in due course.0 -
TalkTalk continue their monthly billing cycle, they don't generate a bill at the time your service cease with them. So you will receive a bill showing a final credit balance. They do not automatically pay this to you. You have to log on to "My Account" which will remain active, and request the credit balance be paid to you. If you have not cancelled the DD they will pay back to your bank account, otherwise they will issue a cheque. At the time of the next monthly billing cycle, they will produce another bill, hopefully showing a zero balance.
