Is this unhelpful practice by EDF allowed/legal
I was transferred to EDF from the unfortunately failed Zog for my gas supply. Having set up my account online with them I was initially a 'pay-as-you-go' billed monthly customer. I was then advised that I would get a cheaper tariff by switching to their direct debit system/rate, which is indeed a little cheaper than their…

Price Cap
Ofgem set the energy price cap so considering the energy companies are making so much profit, couldn't Ofgem not increase the price cap or the very least limit it to say 5% for the next two years? I understand that in some countries the government have stated that their energy companies cannot increase customers account by…

According to Sky news people are in debt to utilities…
How can this be when we have the hottest/driest summer since My supplier keeps advising me to increase my monthly direct debit because they have set a high figure to include possible annual bills - if I don’t pay the higher rate (because I am currently not using anywhere near that amount) they say I am in (future forecast)…

Smart meter readings don’t always tally with billed amount
Hi. We have noticed that our smart meter readings don’t always tally with our billed amount. For instance our July monthly bill for gas and electric with Octopus according to the Smet2 should be around £110, plus VAT. When the bill came through it was £164, a 30%+ difference. We believe the tariff cost is up to date. We…

How much gas am I wasting by sticking to my old boiler?
My reliable old boiler is 25 years old - a Potterton 40,000btu Suprima. I'm thinking of a regular Bosch of similar output. How much more efficient is the new one? Thanks.

"End of service life" meter leads to a smart meter installation problem
We recently had a letter saying our electricity meter has reached its end of service life and we should book the installation of a smart meter, so I phoned to confirm that we don't mind a new smart electricity meter being installed, but we can't switch the gas meter as it's inaccessible (we purchased our bungalow 12 years…

Government intervention of OFGEM
Is there any reason why this government (apart from sheer incompetence) can’t just legally force OFGEM to freeze the price cap for the next 12 months, pending a moratorium on changing how the cap is worked out? This would surely fix so many issues…. It would mean that energy companies obscene profits would be naturally…

Energy Price Cap - estimate of Gas v Electricity caps?
In April, the Gas/kWh went from 4.07p to 7.37p, Electricity from 20.8p to 28.34p (might be for one region, but most are similar). With the forecast increases in Oct and then January, ~82% ~116%, is there any indication or estimate you have (or best guess) of whether Gas or Electricity will be hit worst (in % terms) i.e. an…

Energy price cap
There is no such thing as a price cap, the government is lying to the people, the price of energy depends how much you use, never mind conserving energy to save the planet, the more you use the less you pay. Example myself and my 2 sons. We live within 5 miles of each other. . I live alone in a 2 bed flat, pay direct debit…

Provider was switched
We have been with SSE for years an recently we were switched to Ovo? This was done by SSE and not ourselves. They set a combined for both gas and electric at £209 a month. We are heavily in credit and im unsure what to do, whether to contact them or alter the dd? I'm totally confused about what to do!!!
