Smart meter failed
Hi all. I have been on E7 via a smart meter for 3 years. This has been fine and saved us a fortune as we have an electric car - so charge it overnight. At the end of last year it failed - stopped recording. I advised my supplier - Utility Warehouse. Since then I have been on estimated bills whilst they try to book a meter…

Urgent Help Needed – Gas Supply Issue Potentially Leading to Court Action
Hi everyone, I'm new here, so I hope this is the right place to post. If not, I'd appreciate it if a moderator could kindly move this to the appropriate category. I run a medium-sized gym business and I'm currently facing a serious issue with our gas meter and supply. Back in 2019, I used a broker called "Make It Cheaper"…

Not sure if I am missing something here, but looking at tge current govt Schedule 4 - cannot see that particular model listed. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/schedule-4-uk-nationally-approved-electricity-meters Is there likely an older version of tge list I can access somewhere if that's only current models I…

Night Storage Heaters Charging during Daytime
Cut a long story short following installation of new smart meter by EDF in readiness for RTS switch off. The meter is located in an area where there is little prospect of connectivity and readings have to be harvested manually for submission to supplier. Water heating is controlled by separate 24 hour clock and this is…

British Gas dual fuel to 2 separate accounts
I’ve just had a mad online chat with a British Gas advisor
about changing tariff. It would be easy, I thought, to change to the EV tariff
through the dual fuel deal we have. Not so, apparently as my GAS would go up,
by 30% on the standing charge, and nearly 9% on the unit rate. So I contacted
them by chat. In essence I’d…

Help with the MSE energy club switch cashback.
Hello everyone. I used the MSE energy club to switch to an EON next fixed tariff (EON Next Fixed 16m V1) back in January which came with MSE cashback. It tracked correctly on the mse site and stated it could see we were in a switch etc and to check back another time for progress on cashback. Now today when I login to my…

Economy 7 or Single Rate?
I'm really just hoping for some confirmation that my workings are correct. We're currently on Economy 7. Our day / night usage is roughly 50/50, 4700kWh day & 4700kWh night per year. The best Economy 7 rates I can find are Sainsburys Energy, 29.05p Day & 11.78p Night. As my usage is 50/50 I added them together and divided…

British Gas - Unregistered Meter
My gas supply was taken over by British Gas two years ago. When we received the first statement I noticed that we were being estimated for an old meter which the old supplier had replaced. I sent them an opening reading and photos of the meter but still received estimates. I therefore phoned again and was told that the…

Will try and lay the facts out! myself and partner bought our property 8/3/24 before moving in, we engaged with octopus energy to become our supplier (no knowledge of previous supplier) all good and provided octopus the starting meter readings on the 13th (once we had access to our online account) my mistake is not…

RTS SHUTDOWN AND THTC
I am a customer with EDF living in Aberdeenshire with electricity as my primary source of heating. My heating is on a standard variable heating tariff and this controls timed power to my storage heaters and 24/7 power to my panel heaters etc, all controlled by a RTS meter. This setup is THTC and was originally installed by…

Snug Octopus (Economy 7) Problems
Has anyone else here switched to Octopus Snug and having timing problems? Apparently the smart signal can take a while to switch between peak/off peak. Our switching is happening 10 minutes later than expected. This means we benefit from 50 minutes of off peak electricity, then the last 10 minutes of charging falls into…

EDF No Exit Fee Fixes
I'm currently "stuck" with EDF for Gas whilst the Energy Ombudsman sort out an issue, so I'm ensuring I'm on their lowest tariff. They've recently introduced 1+ year fixes with no exits fees but since I signed up for the first time couple of weeks back, there have been another two, each with lower prices. 19/3 - Simply…

How to use solar panels during a power outage?
I imagine like most forumites who have had solar panels installed which provide 'export' capacity to the grid of any generated excess, our system shuts down during a power outage in order to protect utility worked fixing the national grid. Has anyone invested in, or heard of, a system that might be retrofitted to charge…

Electric heating
I have small (one and a half bedroom) cottage that I have rented for a number of years. It is fitted with night storage units that are over 20 years old and an Economy 10 meter. It was Economy 7 until a couple of years ago when the old meter was changed and the supplier said that Economy 10 was the only option if sticking…
