Electiricy meter certification expiry (?)
I have an older electricity meter, type C11B/M, with sticker on it that states "Certified 91 SO" - I assume this means it was certified in 1991. Looking at this OPSS document, the "prescribed period of certification" for this type appears to be 30 years - which would mean it's now outside it's certification period by 3/4…

British Gas - Problems with their Customer Service
Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice regarding an ongoing issue I’ve had with British Gas and the impact it’s having on my credit score. Last year, I had to set up a repayment plan with them, which was agreed to be over six months. Unfortunately, I wasn’t fully informed about the consequences of this plan, and it’s…

On a variable energy rate and no fixed rate prices are currently better. Should I switch (yet)?
I am with Rebel on their variable rate and I am getting the following. Yet when I compare plans I cannot find any alternative with a lower unit charge. So should I follow all the advice and get a fixed rate tariff or not? GAS 6.1 pence per kWh 30 pence per day ELECTRIC 24.81 pence per kWh 40 pence per day

No reply from Octopus on Great British Insulation Scheme
I applied to Octopus for the Great British Insulation Scheme exactly three weeks ago, but haven't received an update yet. I emailed them and they said they're not sure when I'll get a reply, which is discouraging. Has anyone else waited this long for an update? I understand they have a backlog, but three weeks seems…

Fuse Energy, anybody with them?
As they were being mentioned on another thread I thought I would take a look and sure enough very cheap SC for electricity and discounted unit rate by the looks of it. Personally happy with Octopus and our Tracker/Agile seasonal hop-skip-jump but it's always nice to see if the upstairs companies are getting any traction…

Business electricity rates - too good to be true?
Hi, apologies if this should be in the small business section, I wasn't too sure. I am currently on deemed rates for my first new business premises. I have been looking into contracts and my current provider's rates would be more than the deemed rates. I am a low user >1000kw per year so the standing charge would be high.…

Why do I only have 4 solar panels?
Hi I’m new here so please be kind! I have recently had solar panels fitted by my housing association. They initially brought 10 but couldn’t fit them the same day so had to come back the next day and only put up 4. I have a 4bed house at full occupancy, all other houses that have had them done so far, mainly 1 bedroom…

Unreasonable charges - Octopus
I was pretty stunned this morning to get an email from Octopus saying they planned to increase my monthly payment by £240. That's an extra £2880 a year they are deciding to help themselves to. I have ended this winter just under £400 in debit to them, which I have paid as a one-off payment. And that's after a pretty cold…

British Gas Fixed Rate Contract for Gas & Electricity Account Holder Passes Away
Does anybody know what happens when the account holder passes away and they are on a fixed rate contract for their gas and electricity. Would their wife be able to take over the account and the fixed rate contracts. I know the best option would have been if they were both on the account in the first place.

Utilita Smart Energy Tariff Inaccuracy on MSE Energy Club
I have a very low usage Electricity account (150 kwh/yr) & Utilita is coming up as by far the cheapest so I have clicked through to their website & found that although MSE displays this as a 'direct debit' possible tariff, Utilita application for the tariff does not allow this. Instead, the Utilita website only permits…

Supplier not listed on MSE Cheap Energy Club
I am asked to name my current supplier, but on the dropdown list or around 30 suppliers my one (Rebel Energy) is not listed. I have been with them for over a year at this address. Why might that be and how can I resolve it?

British Gas Historical Debt
Hi, Just want to check where I stand from those who know more. We were looking to switch and discovered yy mother in law (just her in a 2 bed terraced house), had a debt with British Gas of £650. I've had a look back through her bills and it seems this has been lingering since her Nov-22 to May-23 bill with Bills and DDs…

Solar panels and combi boiler
Hi Like many people I fitted a combi boiler and it works fine. I’m now thinking about solar panels. If I fit a hot water tank I can use the excess solar electricity to heat the water. Could I then feed this into the combi boiler? If the water is already hot presumably it won’t get heated further by the boiler, but if it…
