British Gas Nov 2026 fix
Hi My cheap energy club and british gas accounts both list the end of my energy fix as Nov 2026, but in the past few days both have emailed me telling me the fix will end within days. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem with their recent switch to the tariff? Thanks

Monthly direct debit regulation?
Are there any proposals to regulate the monthly direct debit amounts demanded by energy companies? If not, why are consumer champions like MSE not pushing for this? Excessive amounts are still being demanded by energy suppliers. The worst personal example of this came before the recent rise in energy prices, I was with…

RTS shutdown and Restricted meters.
Hello I have a restricted RTS meter with 3 rates being recorded, These are for Day, Night and Heating. I have been getting letters regarding the shut down of the RTS and how this will affect my meter. I have been speaking to Scottish power my energy suppler checking if I could keep the same tariff if I move to a smart…

No standing charge?
Given that Ofgem have tried (and failed) to “simplify” tariffs, do you see a case to bring back zero standing charge tariffs, where the supplier recovers their costs purely from the energy sold? This could keep the price down for low users and make high users contribute more, incentivising the need to reduce usage.

HHR Storage Heaters instead of a heat pump
I want to retire my gas combi boiler, which is now only used for central heating in the winter months. I have no other use for gas, so I could remove my gas supply and save the daily standing charge. All the advice is 'fit a heat pump'. But I don't have much outdoor space and my wife wouldn't like the look of it. Also we…

Regarding budget announcement. To fix or not to fix?
Hi all, I just moved into my new home and with the latest budget announcement regarding "the removal of certain green levies from energy bills", I'm wondering is it worth staying on a variable tariff until April 2026 to guarantee benefitting from these changes and risk bills going up before then, OR to jump onto a fixed…

Have I Don this right ?? .........
I have recently upgraded my heating and looking to change my electricity tariff. I looking at 2 tariffs 1st Cosy Octopus and 2 EDF Heatpump track. EDF Smart Meter & NSH Issues
I’m having a problem with my mum’s new smart meter. EDF have replaced her old RTS complex meter with a SMETS2 smart meter, but are taking their time configuring it properly. It’s showing 2 readings, which I assume are peak and off-peak, but her NSH is coming on at odd times and looks like most of the usage is registering…

Are British Gas overcharging? advice needed
I did an energy price comparison on the MSE Energy Club for my mum's gas and electrictity (she's 88 and can't do it herself). She is currently with British Gas on a fixed rate tariff ending in July 2026 and paying £223 a month. I worked out her annual usage and did a new price comparison. The results show that she can save…

Refund of credit balances
I submitted a meter reading and requested a refund of my credit balance still leaving a credit balance. Octopus Energy have failed to refund after 4 weeks and just say it is processing. In the meantime they have taken a further Direct Debit payment. Did Ofgem not recently remind energy companies they have an obligation…

ECO4 - It is great but beware!!
ECO 4 is great, but beware! Anyone else is this same position? Anyone resolved the issues? Last April (2023) I did some research on the ECO4 scheme, via my Local Council website. I selected a company, based on the location and also the relevant certifications required (MCS, TrustMark) and started the process. I was…

Massive Octopus price hike - help!
Just received an email from Octopus saying they're increasing my energy bill from about £50 a month to £80. Quite a hike! I'm a single person and am really careful with my energy use - eg I only use power in the room I'm in, and when I do have the heating on, it's only 16C to take the chill off. I'm on a dual…

Collective Nov26 - Gas supplier.
I did the Collective Nov26 duel fuel switch from Octopus Energy to British Gas. A few weeks ago I had found out that my Gas supply is with Octopus. Both suppliers is still referring me to the other. I have asked BG to request the switch and they said to ask OE.I had read the BG customer service is poor but I was not…

OVO billing issue
I recently moved house and closed my account with Ovo which had been energy provider for over 4 years. When I closed my account, it was over £1000 in credit. I was told the credit would be reimbursed as soon as they issued the final bill, within 4 weeks. Time went by and I contacted them multiple times, but nothing was…
