Combi boiler hot water temperature
Have just had a lovely shiney new combi boiler installed to replace my decades old system that used a hot water tank. I understand the central heating side of things as that is not really any different but just wondering how the hot water bit works. On my old system it would heat the water up to whatever temperature I set…

Money Expert Still Making Door to Door Calls
I had someone from 'Money Expert' call a couple of years ago. Then they were trying to intimate they were the same as Martin Lewis' MSE efforts. Obviously, I quickly sussed them out but did get them to give me a quote as to tariffs they could find, all unknown companies (to me) which were patently false and not actually…

British Gas billing for non existent meter yet again
Hi, hoping for help/guidance ….Last year my parents were getting incorrectly billed by BG for standing charges for a gas meter that BG removed from the property when they moved in - there's only electric there. I got the EO involved when after 8 wks of complaining nothing was being resolved and bill’s kept coming…..and in…

Claiming back BG Homecare DD
Would I be able to claim back payments that were made to BG Homecare for 4 years? During this time her house was empty as she was in a nursing home. The direct debits continued to be taken from her account as I was unable to stop them.

Gas energy usage
am with Octopus and have been monitoring my smart meter recently. With the sunny weather I have turned off the gas central heating for over a month. I don’t use any gas until I do the washing up at lunchtime. For the past couple of weeks there was no usage of gas registered over night or morning. Now, suddenly for the past…

Deadlock letter from BG
Sorry this is a long one and I appreciate anyone taking the time to read/respond to this post. I have just received a deadlock letter from BG following a dispute over my mum's final duel fuel bill. She was admitted into a nursing home in August 19 (aged 68 with early onset dementia) and stayed there until she passed away…

The 'Spark Gap' and levvies
I watched quite an interesting Q&A with heat geek and our minister for energy consumers and she basically hinted at taking levvies off electric and applying them to Gas, but sure that's going to end in a shortfall for new projects? If you take for example 10% off electricity, reducing it by 3p then add that levy to Gas…

Economy 7 and 10 radio telesignal switch off
Does anyone know if the Telesignal switch off is still going ahead on 30th June 2025? I have one of these and the provider I have keep making me appointments to change it, however, the company that comes round to change will not remove the built in cupboard it is in??? Thanks

Energy fixed term
I'm looking for advice rather than another issue. My dual energy fixed term ends on the 23rd June 2025 I could fix on the present April to 30th June fix term which the cap has gone up by 6% but the July to September is estimated to come down by 8%, should I fix on the April to June or wait and fix on the July to September?

Smart Thermostat
I am with Octopus for gas and electricity, moved this year from British Gas. I have previously looked at Hive so that I can switch my heating on when I am on my way home etc but did not go ahead. I have emailed Octopus to ask if they have an alternative but still waiting for a reply. Do I need to purchase the device…

Studio flat, heating & water, should I go all electric or keep gas?
I have a small studio flat I rent out. Currently it has gas fire (70’s type) in lounge/bedroom and a gas hob & electric oven. No central heating and water heated by electric immersion. Shower electric. I have installed good quality electric radiator in lounge. Flat has 3 rooms longe/sleeping, kitchen, bathroom. On 3rd…

Cashback with Same Supplier
Cheap energy club shows I can get cashback if I switch to a new fix with my current supplier British Gas. Is this correct? BG fixes do not have an exit penalty for switching to another of their tariffs, so it seems a bit strange because you could keep switching and getting cash back.

OVO trying to bill me for a property I don't live at - neverending battle and unsure where to go now
Hello everyone. I don't like asking for help but I am at my wits end with OVO energy and every time I think I have it resolved, it suddenly starts again. Myself and my partner lived in a rental property from May 2022 until 14 December 2023 and OVO energy were our supplier. The account was in my name alone, she was not…

eon smart meter started at 618 but they are charging me from 0. And i have no data.
The engineer - installed the meter - told us it would start at 0 - told us we couldn't get a smart display (IHD) cause there was no socket where the meter was - told us we would get all the data in the app (currently 3 weeks later i still can't see any real data) We pointed out to the engineer that the just installed meter…

Octopus Solar and battery usage discrepancy with Givenergy app
My query concerns a discrepancy in usage between Octopus energy and the Giv Energy app. A couple of months ago I had a GivEnergy 9.5kw battery, 5kw inverter (gen3) and 10 solar panels fitted. For the first month everything appeared to be working fine. My meter readings indicated a usage from the grid of around 11kwh for…

Get £300 meter credit from EDF
Hi first post be gentle but want to pass on. I have always avoided smart meters but had PAYG meter with EDF card playing up. So thought I would ask about smart meter installation. Signed up last week still in 14 day cooling off period with SIMPLY TRACKER + Apr26. But here’s the gift because I asked for smart meter…

PAYG Gas Topup - That's never happened before!
Might be one for the meter experts. Sorry the post is a little long but I wanted to try to cover it all. I do intend to call the supplier Monday anyway about this. Brought a £10 topup voucher Saturday. Meter was in the E-Credit but only by a few pence. No previous or other debt owed. Paid that off months ago. No issues…

Smart meter failed
Hi all. I have been on E7 via a smart meter for 3 years. This has been fine and saved us a fortune as we have an electric car - so charge it overnight. At the end of last year it failed - stopped recording. I advised my supplier - Utility Warehouse. Since then I have been on estimated bills whilst they try to book a meter…

Urgent Help Needed – Gas Supply Issue Potentially Leading to Court Action
Hi everyone, I'm new here, so I hope this is the right place to post. If not, I'd appreciate it if a moderator could kindly move this to the appropriate category. I run a medium-sized gym business and I'm currently facing a serious issue with our gas meter and supply. Back in 2019, I used a broker called "Make It Cheaper"…
