Ovo moving home price
Just a quick heads up for those looking to renew with Ovo. I was quoted a price back in mid-August for a contract ending in Sept which was online only. I searched (as did an Ovo rep in a later call) and couldn't find the quoted unit and standing charge prices. In the end I tried it as a moving home quote and it came up…

Do Ceiling Fans reduce heating bills in Winter?

Smart meter connectivity
Does anyone please know how to test for Smart meter connections outside my walls. In rural Wales, so south zone. Inside my house there is apparently no connction to signal or WAN (thick walls). Octopus gave up chasing SMS to try T3 external aerial. If I thought I could get a signal I'd move the meter - the grid connnection…

OVO - pls can someone tell me how it works - internal records
Hello, can anyone help please. We are in a dispute with OVO and it looks like over a period of 5 years they have been overcharged us more than £15,000. I know we can't get it all back, and we've sorted it going forward with new provider and fixed the meters, but we are disputing OVO's recent invoices. It now looks as…

Small Business Energy help for broker scams
Hoping someone can help! We have a small business with two electric meters. One contract is up on 31/3/24 and a third party broker (Northern Gas & Power) have got us in to contract to sign back up with the currently supplier (Engie) but at a rate of 60ppkw for over 3 years. This is on a blend and extend contract so in…

Northern Gas and Power.
I am looking for other people who have had a similar experience to my own. I was mis-sold a new energy and gas contract by Northern Gas and Power. Without wanting to go into too much detail on the matter. I was recently mis-sold a contract by Northern Gas and Power on one of their ‘blend and extend’ contracts. What I was…

Octopus yanking us around for a year. (GBIS - Great British Insulation Scheme)
Hoping that someone might be able to help me on this one. We applied for the GBIS (Great British Insulation Scheme) in February 2024 and since then we've had nothing but the run around with Octopus about when we can get the work carried out. We were sent and email in the summer saying that it had been accepted and we…

T-49 and counting (till my fix is up...)
I moved over to what I thought was a decent Outfox fix in July last year. To my faint surprise, on checking the MSE Energy Club, I can fix again at a virtually identical rate. I'm not unhappy with that as a baseline, but QQ for you smarter people on here: Based on current data/forecasts, is there anything that points to…

Economy 7 and energy usage concerns in new flat
Hi Sorry for the long post. I am not capable of writing succintly due to how my brain works. And I have a lot of questions. My mum (elderly) and sister moved into a 2-bed all-electric flat approx 7 weeks ago, from a dual-fuel 3-bed semi. They are both at home most of the time and are on an expensive Economy 7 tariff (Eon…

Cheap Energy Club - price cap periods for 'current deal'
MSE's Cheap Energy Club, under the heading 'Your current deal', is showing the projected total annual cost based on the price cap period April - June and NOT July - September. This makes comparisons between the current deal and the alternatives (which are July - September) less accurate. Is this due to be updated?

FIX - better BEFORE or AFTER October 1st, 2025?
Our dual fuel fix always expires just before the new October price cap.I've seen a suggestion that for the October 1st 2025 new price cap, it might be better to fix after the new cap comes in.Could that be right? And why? Any advice very welcome.

utilities variable DD Outfox say they don't allow it??
Just wondered if you pay by variable DD. I've been with Eon-Next for at least 5 years and because they only billed me for gas when I emailed them I told them I will in future only pay by Variable DD. That was fine by them and at least I know every month what is coming out of my account. This past week I have been looking…

Tracking smart meter readings
Our daughter recently had new smart meters fitted on behalf of her new supplier Eon Next, I think. She had smart meters previously but the gas one was too far from the electric one to be able to communicate due to the very thick walls in the house. Then the electric one failed, so she arranged for new meters each with…

British Gas - Fixed Energy Tariffs
My fixed tarfiff ends in Sept - currently paying £221.63 a month, British Gas want me to move to a new tariff paying £250.85 per month, if i do not select the new tariff they will automatically move me to £263.74 per month. My account is currently £271.72 in credit, so it is a clear to me that I am currently overpaying at…
