£20 payment
Hi, just a simple question. I switched my gas and electric tariff through an MSE link but withing British gas, i.e. from one British gas tariff which I was on to another BG tariff. Am I entitled to the £20 dual fuel payment from MSE? Many thanks.

When is a fix not a fix?
I analysed my ‘fixed’ tariff with EDF Energy to discover that they had increased both the unit rate and the standing charge several times during the fixed year of my contract. How can this be possible? The tariff was EDF Ensure Jul25.

ECO4 - It is great but beware!!
ECO 4 is great, but beware! Anyone else is this same position? Anyone resolved the issues? Last April (2023) I did some research on the ECO4 scheme, via my Local Council website. I selected a company, based on the location and also the relevant certifications required (MCS, TrustMark) and started the process. I was…

Octopus Final bill for £2K cannot be right
I moved out of a property in June and received a closing bill from Octopus in July which seemed correct. I keep a spreadsheet of bills and usage etc and so I was tracking roughly what the closing amounts should be. Yesterday I received a demand for £1902 from Octopus, stating that the smart meter reading on 8th June was…

Outfox Energy - switching tariffs internally exit fee rules from 1 September 2025
Outfox used to let you switch tariff internally without charging any exit fees but they are changing that position from the 1 September according to a Facebook post from Outfox. You will have to pay any exit fees unless you meet two particular criteria... You’ve completed 50% or more of your current fixed tariff duration,…

EDF TARIFFS / SEPT 2025
Hello, Anybody with EDF.. have you decided your next tariff? I am on the Essentials Fixed 1Yr Sept25. I can’t decide whether to select the ‘Simply Tracker’ Sept 26 (£50 disc off standing charges) (prices rise and fall in line with Ofgem’s price cap) OR opt for the ‘Simply Fixed’ with rates and standing charges for the…

Smart Meter - no thanks!
Hello forumites. I am due to move into a new place, which was I believe was previously housing association. Looks as though it has pre-pay gas/elec meters (or at least some sort of "not very" smart meter). I have zero confidence in so called "smart" meters, which appear to have caused nothing but problems since day one.…

What's going on with Octopus statements?
When I first joined Octopus last year they used to send a single monthly statement covering electricity imports and exports along with gas. Around three months ago electricity and gas statements started coming separately. This month they've separated exports too so I've had three statements. It's no big deal but some…

Year on year fixed rates - Octopus
I usually fix for 12 months year on year with Octopus. This year my fixed rate is due to end on October 4th, and was contacted today to undertake a new fix. Looks like if I take the offer of fixing for today I'll go onto the current August rate (2025v1). It generally seems that there are maybe 2 versions each month and…

Outfox Energy Changing Company Policy Behind Customers' Backs
Been with this company since last year, and never had a problem. Any contact has been dealt with swiftly and well. However something recently has irked me a great deal. As you're aware recently tariffs across the board have been changing quite frequently. It's not uncommon to sign up for one tariff, only for the same…

Smart meter goes dumb after two years
I had a smart meter installed in August 2023. At the time the installer said the signal was weak but it worked fine and I bought an EV on the strength of being able to charge it cheaply overnight and moved onto a Time of Use tariff that relies on half-hourly meter readings. In March 2024 there was an 11 day outage when no…

Smart meter
We are on Economy 7 tariff and it took Octopus Energy over 3 weeks since installing a smart meter for it to read the night time use. Instead it read night time as daytime so we have been charged daytime rate for 24 days. Octopus has offered £40 in compensation, so should we accept or take it further?

Economy 7
Ive had a letter saying they are getting rid of this tariff, I live in the countryside and its an old system and saves me a lot of money, well it seems it does. I'm with EDF does anyone have much information on this as I cant see any other provider actually providing this tariff anymore. Ive looked at some providers and…
