What energy tariff should I be considering for a Phev?
Currently on Octopus Loyal 16M Fixed at 24.5p and 66p standing Lec, and 6.62 and 29.3p standing Gas. We have a Phev. It's only 14kWh, but it would be nice to have it regularly topped up at a cheap rate overnight from a standard socket at 2.4kW. No interest in adding the more powerful charger (3.7kW?) as that would require…

British Gas Homecare
Has anyone else had issues with booking an appointment with British Gas homecare? I pay a monthly direct debit but feel like I can’t get the service I am paying for! They are fully booked until May! We cant do week days as we both work full time. If I leave it till May that will mean my boiler has been waiting over 6…

Collective deals missing
I am checking my Cheap Energy Club recommendations as my fixed contract is about to end but I don't see the collective deals for BG and Fuse. I see other deals from these two providers further down the list but not the collective deals referred to in the MSE newsletter. Do others see these deals or are we supposed to do…

OVO Billing- Advice Needed
I bought a property on 19th December (and as it's a project, we're still in the process of moving in fully) On the date I got the keys, I rang OVO energy to set up an account and advised them that the Gas Meter wasn't working- they went through all of the steps with us to rectify it at the time but instead got an Engineer…

Is anyone using a powerstation as a home battery for savings with Economy 7?
Is anyone using a powerstationa s a home battery for savings with Economy 7? I'll explain why I am considering the above. I have been camping for decades and a couple a years ago I bought a 300w, 300Wh powerstation, portable car compressor fridge and a foldable 100w solar panel. It last about 2.5 days without sun, but…

"Home Energy" - curious why mentioned so little on this board...
When my lovely Sainsbury's Energy fix ended last November, I mentioned on here that I'd moved to (what I think is) a small supplier called Home Energy - they were offering their SVT slightly below cap, and over the past few months, it's all been absolutely fine. Today I got an email from them regarding the upcoming cut to…

Looking for advice — long-running Octopus Energy billing/metering issue (Ombudsman involved twice)
I’m posting to see if anyone with metering or industry knowledge has dealt with something similar, as this has been going on for a long time and standard complaint routes haven’t actually fixed the root problem. We have a complex meter setup (dual circuit / RHT configuration), and Octopus appear to fundamentally…

British Gas
Can anyone help me please, I got an electric vehicle last March and I called British Gas in July and explained that I had a charger installed from Pod and just needed an EV tariff. I was on a fixed 3 year deal but the lady I spoke to advised me that the EV tariff would be more suitable. I was advised that my meters would…

Economy 7 timing problem (EDF)
I have a 2024 Kaifa 'smart' meter. Up until recently the timing of the storage heater switching (ALCS) was well synchronised with the Economy 7 tariff period. However since a new E7 tariff on 14 Jan, the tariff change to night rate has been delayed by 30min. This of course means that for the first 30min the heavy storage…

Governments £150 off energy bills
On matins show it was stated that the reduction equates to 3.5p kwh off tariff But he said some suppliers who do not pay the environmental charge may only reduce the bills by £90, Does any body know what what that would equate to a reduction of per kwh

British Gas Lite - how do you get your money back?
We are a small company who have been chasing British Gas Lite for a refund since the 26th November - they promised it would be paid within 7 to 10 days. Dispute chasing on practically a daily basis for this money - we have been given excuse after excuse as to why it could not be paid - they needed another meter read,…

New Smart Meter Needs Replacing
A friend has E7 and had the old RTS dumb meter replaced with smart in July 2025. They have just had communication from their supplier that the meter will stop working on 1 June 2026. The message they have received is Your smart meter will stop working on 1st June 2026 We’re getting in touch because we need to make an…

Move from OVO?
Little worried about OVO being able to keep going. I don't have a meter and always send a reading twice a month and when I do miss never had an issue with estimating their end. My AI search says Sainsbury (E.ON) is a good one to switch to but will I be forced to have a meter? We are elderly couple with low energy needs for…

OVO – 3 years of billing errors, 2 Ombudsman rulings ignored, now contradictory repayment demands
Hi all, I’m looking for help because I’ve been stuck in a multi‑year dispute with OVO Energy that still isn’t resolved, even after two Ombudsman rulings in my favour (June 2024 and May 2025). OVO continue to bill me incorrectly, add new charges, and contradict their own written agreements. Summary of the situation OVO…

Issue with the MSE website - my tariff isn't listed
I'm looking for a new tariff comparison and the MSE website asks me for my current tariff (British Gas "Fixed Tariff v34") but this isn't listed in the options. When I click "my tariff isn't listed" it tells me to look at my bill to find the tariff. Very frustrating.

Fuse energy help?
Hi all, I switched to Fuse energy in December and they quoted me a monthly DD of £187 per month. I have had my bill through for this month and it’s £340 🤷🏻♀️. Has anyone had experiences with them as this seems a crazy amount to use for gas and electric.

IHD from Eon next
I was with British gas after moving in to my new (to me) house. Then changed to Octopus. They installed new smart meters in, or after Feb 2025.I bought the house in Dec 2024.I got a small pink box that allowed me to use their app to see real time info. I moved to Eon next last week. I either expected the pink box to…
