Uswitch 25 hours free electricity

I’ve seen a promotion advertised by Uswitch offering 25 hours free electricity if you connect your smart meter. Has anyone taken part in this before as I think they may have ran something similar at Christmas? I assume the catch is they collect and sell your usage data to target you with tailored tariffs?

Have a read of the terms and conditions where it actually explains how it works and that “ Members acknowledge that Uswitch will provide the necessary smart energy data to its partners to assess the outcome of each session of free electricity.”
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Had a look at this today and I'd agree that their giving you up to £25 for 25 hours of free power over 5 weekends in November.  Only 'catch' that I can see is that they will then have access to your electric power usage information - to assess and, I'd assume, come back to recommend a provider/tariff switch?

Does anyone else have a different insight to this?
Having access to my elec power usage does not seem like too much of a issue.

I looked at my potential financial gains. I'd struggle to make more than 70p for each session even if we changed our dining habits AND my wife remembered when to run the washing m/c and Hoover!
Just not worth giving away more data for less than the price of a pint LOL

I'm intending to use these sessions to recharge my batteries to power the ASHP.
    Hopefully,  maximise the £25 available.

I've signed up. Will charge up the batteries and EV. Couldn't give a monkies about them getting my electric data.

Opt in and choice of time slot for 5 hours of free electricity now available for this weekend. It’s open to anyone with a smart meter regardless of which supplier you have.

Could I literally fill the EV, the house batteries and the immersion, pay full whack to Octopus for it then effectively get reimbursed by USwitch? Is that how it’s supposed to work?

I believe so. You’ll have to check the T&Cs to be sure.

I've got the app and have added info but when it gets to the plan start date you can't select the relevant month and you are stuck on that page - I assume it's too many people trying to use the app at the same time and it's overloaded...
