Uswitch 25 hours free electricity

One is only allowed to sign up with one "demand flexibility service" operated by electricity providers. So if you are already signed up with another one (e.g. Octopus saving sessions) you cannot have both, in theory. The uswitch T&Cs make this clear "You must not sign up to an equivalent demand flexibility scheme with another provider while you are signed up to the RES campaign, otherwise you will be automatically excluded from participating in any future Sessions until you have opted out of all other demand flexibility schemes. This is because NESO only lets users participate in one scheme at a time."1

That's an interesting point - this isn't about demand flexibility as far as I understand, because it's a set block of hours chosen in advance rather than response to grid demand. BUT there's also something about Reduce and Earn with USwitch too once having signed up with them, which does sound like a savings sessions thing. Hmm. I wonder if Octoplus overall is affected.
I should have known this might have been too good to not have a catch!0 -
According to FAQs you can be enrolled in Octopus Saving sessions and enroll for Power hours but not their Reduce and Earn scheme which is is NESO. Confusingly you enroll for both automatically and then have to opt out of Reduce and Earn sessions when announced.2

I'm in. It might not be much, but way more lucrative than the current Octopus Saving Sessions. Will be nice to be paid SVT prices for my energy used at Agile prices tomorrow morning. I was already planning to make the most of some cheap slots. Afternoon probably would have worked out a bit better, but still hoping for low prices either side of the morning peak.0

I'm in too, don't care if they are just doing it to monitor my usage.0

I was thinking of doing this and just realised its the last day. I am on Octopus Agile, also have solar panels and export back to Octopus, no battery. I am signed up to the Octopus saving sessions and free electricity, but earned a grand total of 1p for the past few and 25p overall for free electric as I seem to losing out on the free electric if its sunny due to my solar. Thinking of the sunday 12-5 session, would it be worth me signing up for this?0

Nothing to lose really. I’ve signed up and will do my best to have everything on and do lots of hoovering. 😆akh43 said:I was thinking of doing this and just realised it’s the last day. I'm also on Agile and have managed to opt out of the reduce and earn (which appear to be the equivalent of Savings Sessions) whilst still having the power hour / 5 free hours. So I can't see there's anything to lose.akh43 said:I was thinking of doing this and just realised its the last day. After a week of umm-ing and ah-ing, I've signed up. Our first session will be Sunday afternoon.

IOG isn't in uSwitch's list so I'll be reimbursed at SVT rates, which means I'll have an effective unit rate of ~5p/kWh for the session (unless I can luck out with an IOG smart charge).N. I have signed up for the sunday 12-5pm session. Why should I opt out of the reduce and earn, does it clash with something on octopus?Spoonie_Turtle said:
