British Gas Lite - how do you get your money back?
We are a small company who have been chasing British Gas Lite for a refund since the 26th November - they promised it would be paid within 7 to 10 days. Dispute chasing on practically a daily basis for this money - we have been given excuse after excuse as to why it could not be paid - they needed another meter read,…

New Smart Meter Needs Replacing
A friend has E7 and had the old RTS dumb meter replaced with smart in July 2025. They have just had communication from their supplier that the meter will stop working on 1 June 2026. The message they have received is Your smart meter will stop working on 1st June 2026 We’re getting in touch because we need to make an…

Move from OVO?
Little worried about OVO being able to keep going. I don't have a meter and always send a reading twice a month and when I do miss never had an issue with estimating their end. My AI search says Sainsbury (E.ON) is a good one to switch to but will I be forced to have a meter? We are elderly couple with low energy needs for…

OVO – 3 years of billing errors, 2 Ombudsman rulings ignored, now contradictory repayment demands
Hi all, I’m looking for help because I’ve been stuck in a multi‑year dispute with OVO Energy that still isn’t resolved, even after two Ombudsman rulings in my favour (June 2024 and May 2025). OVO continue to bill me incorrectly, add new charges, and contradict their own written agreements. Summary of the situation OVO…

Issue with the MSE website - my tariff isn't listed
I'm looking for a new tariff comparison and the MSE website asks me for my current tariff (British Gas "Fixed Tariff v34") but this isn't listed in the options. When I click "my tariff isn't listed" it tells me to look at my bill to find the tariff. Very frustrating.

Fuse energy help?
Hi all, I switched to Fuse energy in December and they quoted me a monthly DD of £187 per month. I have had my bill through for this month and it’s £340 🤷🏻♀️. Has anyone had experiences with them as this seems a crazy amount to use for gas and electric.

IHD from Eon next
I was with British gas after moving in to my new (to me) house. Then changed to Octopus. They installed new smart meters in, or after Feb 2025.I bought the house in Dec 2024.I got a small pink box that allowed me to use their app to see real time info. I moved to Eon next last week. I either expected the pink box to…

Smart meter billing errors - is this likely to be a widespread issue
I'm responsible for a remote house (electricity only) that had a forced SMETS2 meter installed to cope with the RTS retirement. After a couple of months, the steady bills, which were just for night storage heaters, leapt. Much trouble later, and the supplier (EON) claimed that a power failure had 'broken' the meter so that…

Economy 10 - EDF
EDF have almost doubled their off peak rates for Economy 10 from 1st Jan from 8.57p per kwh to 16.67p. Admittedly it seems that 8.57p was a very low price, but this is still a massive increase. As we have storage heaters the vast majority of our electricity use during winter is off-peak, which means that our annual bill is…

Best EV tariff + SEG export tariff when you have solar & battery? How do people compare properly?
I’m trying to work out the best way to compare EV tariffs together with SEG export tariffs, for households that have solar + battery + EV. Most comparison sites (and even MSE guides) seem to look at: • cheap overnight EV rates or • best SEG export rates but not the combined effect when you have both. For example, if: • an…

Hello, Ive had a Ground Source heat pump for over 15 years when we swapped from oil as it was getting very expensive. British Gas - ongoing complaint
Don't suppose anyone has an email address so I can escalate my complaint with British Gas ? Quick summary -- I haven't had an invoice / statement since Jan 2025, and my account is now over £1100 in credit. Customer Services at British Gas are useless. I was on quarterly billing, but requested to move to monthly billing, as…

British Gas Back billing nightmare
Hi all, I’m having a nightmare with British Gas and their handling of back billing and would really appreciate some advice. Background: I’m a pay-on-receipt customer. I was moved to British Gas in September 2021 when my supplier went bust, and I never set up a direct debit. From December 2023 to June 2025, I received no…

Calculating energy bills
I have tried Google search to find an easy way to calculate my energy bills. However, the results that are returned are instructions on how to read Electricity and Gas meters. There is nothing on how to calculate what your actual bill is going to be or should be. Mathematics and anything to do with figures are my weakness,…

What makes a smart meter go offline?
Sorry for the long post ... I'm with Co-op (powered by Octopus) and back in July of last year I got Octopus to install a smart meter. I was pleased that the meter has worked well since, but I've had a problem with the IHD, which works some of the time and doesn't for the rest of the time. It shows a very low signal, and…

British Gas unusual smart meter problem
We had Smets2 meters fitted 2 years ago with Octopus. Everything worked fine. Switched to BG last October. At the end of each month since, I've been getting email reminders from BG to submit electricity readings. This seems odd because I can see half-hourly usage in the BG app for both electric and gas so they must somehow…
