Updating meter hub from 3g to 4g - now no data?
I got a call from Octopus Energy yesterday about upgrading the meter hub from 3G to 4G. Now, though, I’m left without any readings or data on my smart meter. They updated both the electricity and gas meters. My electric supply is with Octopus, while my gas comes from Fuse Energy. Any idea how long it usually takes for the smart meter to start working again?

Just to be sure of the terms for the devices that you have/changes.
You already had smart gas and electricity meters?
Your comms hub (the box that connects your meters with the energy company(s) was upgraded from 3 to 4G?
Your In House Display (the box that shows your usage/meter readings) is showing nothing?

Has a technician been to your property and physically changed the comms hub attached to the electricity meter?

I'm as puzzled as the other two replies above.

"A call" - was this an actual visit to your home from an Octopus engineer who swapped your comms hub? Or something else?
Exactly what happened?

I received an email from Octopus Energy saying they were going to update the meter hub. Later that same day, they called and completed the update. However, I'm a bit confused because the gas meter is with a different energy supplier, so I'm not sure if they were supposed to handle that update. Now, I can't see any data on my smart meter for both electricity and gas. I'm really hoping this is just a temporary glitch until the system catches up. Does anyone know if the gas meter hub should have been updated by a different supplier, and how long it usually takes for everything to start working again?

When you say smart meter do you actually mean the in house display or the actual meter in your meet cupboard?

the small smart meter (house display).

I'm no expert but don't those IHD's have to be paired with a new comms unit?
Did the person doing the update not check or re-pair the display?

Does anyone know if the gas meter hub should have been updated by a
different supplier, and how long it usually takes for everything to
start working again? There is only one hub, it supports both gas and electric meter regardless of who supplies each of them.
Did Octopus supply the IHD or did you bring that with you from a previous supplier?

no, he just carried out the work in the outside meter box and did not check the IHD.
