So the price cap for the 3rd quarter will go up by 13%. OK. Anyone else seen their unit gas price go up by more than this? Mine has gone up 28%!!

The 13% was the headline but gas was c28% and leccy c5% https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/energy-price-cap-unit-rates-and-standing-charges

I have recently gone E.ON fixed 15v4 to Fuse Energy Fixed (15m) V6

From To

Electricity unit rate per kWh	18.841p	21.502p
Electricity standing charge per day	53.770p	64.173p
Gas unit rate per kWh	5.763p	6.402p
Gas standing charge per day	32.782p	29.238p

So that is about 11%, This biggest change is the electricity standing charge

The headlines tend to only quote the total dual fuel DD cap price - not the individual fuels.

The average Ofgem gas unit rate went up a similar 27.7% iirc when I typed it into my calculator.

Part of the problem was people were getting used to the gas price dropping - after Ukraine in recent caps.

So since last July (2025) cap

6.33p, 6.29p, 5.93p, 5.74p and soon to be 7.33p - all regional averages p/kWh.

So even there - its 1p up on the same time last year.

But are still along way away from Ofgem raw Ukraine peak of 17p/kWh in Q1 2023 - and the EPG (at the cost of c£23bn) that kept household bills (well those on tariffs it applied to) - to a lower 10.3p/kWh for Q2 22, Q1/Q2 23.

And of course gas remains around a quarter of the price of electricity - despite it's far higher contribution to UK emissions.

I tend not to use the Energy Company's standard tariff. I prefer to be on a fixed tariff.
This has led to the following unit gas prices excluding VAT.
July 23: 10.284
January 24: 7.962
January 25: 6.017
January 26: 5.495
March 26: 4.897
now until August 27: 4.587
I suppose everybody's experience is different.
